PotW - September 5, 2006Here's an image that, I think, will have sneaked in under the radar of most people.
A week or so ago one of our founding members, Sheepie led a troupe of members up to visit the ZigZag Railway. This image was one of the many that were posted from this trip. Leon says that he is trying to see things differently, and this image is a result of this conscious effort on his part. Clearly, it's working. This image works, for me, on a number of levels. The perspective of the shot just draws your along and through the image. The yellow line on the platform only helps in this regard. The doors themselves, all opened, all, basically the same, creates a form of visual aliteration in the image that I find particularly appealing. The colours and the subject matter itself have a natural warmth and appeal. Congratulations, Leon. Well done. Original thread here. g.

Very well spotted... some times you need to think through the viewfinder and this clearly worked, so many metaphores you can draw from this!

Congratulations Leon. A great example of how ordinary things can make interesting images when you have the eye for the shot.

Congratulations Sheepie! I missed this one first time around. Not something we'd ordinarily see from you, and to see you stepping out of your 'comfort' zone to take such a great image is fanttastic! Well done, and great choice Gary!

Leon - I liked this shot first time 'round and still think it is fantastic - congratulations on PotW.
I think the composition and colours work really well, and love the uniformity of the open doors. Well done. P
This shot is right on track, very well gauged and right at the coal face of photography. Actually at first glance it looks like a huge ancient porta-loo! Seriously, well done Sheepie, great angle of view and a timely, unusual capture. President, A.A.A.A.A (Australian Association Against Acronym Abuse)

Fantastic effort Leon. With the quality of work you've been doing of late, it was only a matter of time before you won a POTW.
Steve.
