I scored some nice goodies today :)Whilst shopping around Chatswood... I was in NZ up until yesterday longing for a nice camera bag but its extremely difficult to find anything over there let alone anything for a decent price..
First bargain, had at Harvey Norman Express (sell all sorts of camera things, laptops) was for a Sandisk Ultra II 1.0GB CF card.. I talked to Nick and mentioned I had seen the Trascend 1.0GB card for $200inc gst, he immediately offered to match the price and I walked away with a Ultra II 1.0GB for $200!!! bargain I say... 2nd bargain, Chatswood Camera House. I walked in looking for the Lowepro Nova 4AW.. Paxtens had it in black for $229 (ouuuccch), but when I went into CCC I saw it in Green/Black for $110!!!!! It HAD to be a misprint.. and yes, it was turns out the owner priced it incorrectly but honoured my request for it @ $110! Woot.. another bargain So, Sandisk Ultra II 1.0GB CF card and Lowepro Nova 4AW for $310, I was over the moon I'm sure Nick will hand out more Sandisk 1GB jobbies for $200 so get on in there
You should stated the Transcend 1.0Gb 45x CF for $170.00 and 2.0Gb is $345.00 including GST, perhaps he'll match. Nick is laughing now!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the price for Sandisk Ultra II 1.0Gb is $190.00, but there's still a room for bargaining. Price dropped last Friday on all memory card, we had a good Exchange rate, my guess. The NOVA 4AW RRP is $109.00 from Maxwell Website: http://www.maxwell.com.au/photo/lowepro ... va4aw.html Click on the price at your right hand corner, you'll see the price.. I spotted it $85.00 including GST around town. For a previously thread in this forum with the test if difference card readers, the Transcend 45x is achieved better performance than the Sandisk Ultra II. Birddog114

I suddenly feel very sheepish
I looked last week and the best I could find those Sandisk cards were like $250+ so I figured $200 was a good price... it seems not The bag was listed at Paxtens for $229.. hmmm what is going on
Kris, Make sure do a good shopping around next time. No sin, no laughing about it and we now live in the modern life, just a click and we can see and compare the difference! Birddog114

Kris - see how potentially damaging online forums are? You were happy with your bargain purchases, then came on here only to find out they weren't such bargains after all... Well, if YOU are happy with the price you paid, and perceived them to be good value, then you should be happy.
You are right, but the wealth of information and the bargains you do find on forums make them extremely handy! My partner always says to me ' how many forums are you a member of' ... I dont think I could count them on 2 hands
I don't like reading about what other people paid for stuff unless it is more than I paid - and let's face it, by the time you have owned something for about a month or two, it WILL be cheaper. An inevitable part of new technology (I paid $500 for a DVD player some years ago, the vastly superior replacement cost less than half that)
The thread on here somewhere about how much people paid for their cameras - I avoid it like the plague. There is no happiness down that path. Denial - it's not just a river in Egypt. Greg - - - - D200 etc

Greg,
You're quite correct. These days, when you commit to buying something electronic, you're also committing yourself to the fact that what you've bought is already obsolete, and that, even today, somebody will have bought a cheaper instance of it. The bottom line is that if you're happy paying that amount for the product in question, that's the end of the game. Enjoy your purchase. g.

me too... I paid 450 for my DVD player....
This happens on shopping holidays in Bali as well.
I buy a shirt for 5000 Rupiah and i meet someone else who paid only 4500 Rupiah from the same vendor. I feel ripped off that i missed out on saving 25 cents. (Keeps quiet that I bought five)
