Not a great deal considering you can purchase a D200 10.2MP for $2274 http://www.camerasdirect.com.au/ comparison review to D1X and D2X here: http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d200-vs-nikon.htm

Cheers :D

Probably better off looking at a used D70.

A D1H might be a good interim solution. It has only 2.47MP but they sit on a 10+MP sensor and with judicious post-processing can produce nice prints. It has a nice feature set and good frame rate. I see them frequently for just a few hundred dollars US, certainly a good bit less than a D50.

Want to buy D2H?

Postby Actorlife on Wed Sep 13, 2006 3:46 am

Didn't want to make another thread. Is it still worth getting the D2H for $1200.00 US? I'd be using it for sports. 8 frames is very tempting. Since the D200 is only 5 frames is there much of a difference?

Many thanks!

Actorlife, there is about 3fps difference between 8fps anf 5fps  Seriously, I would think the D2H is an excellent buy at that price or lower

Go the D2H - the fps is not the only factor - the CAM2000 focussing is faster than the D200 - the D2H was developed for sports photography

I agree with Chris, the focussing is faster, the camera is built as a top line pro camera and the same basic structure and features are in Nikon's top pro camera today. The D200 is a very capable consumer/prosumer camera. I would imagine if you could get a real estimated shutter life span it would probably be 3 times as much for the D2H.
