stubbsy wrote:Oz As I understand it we are to send you an electronic copy of the image. Already covered are the image size (16 x 20 or 20 x 16), but it would be useful to know some of the following since they impact the size of the file being sent to you.: - file format (Jpeg, TIFF, PSD?) - pixels per inch (75, 150, 300?) - colourspace (sRGB, AdobeRGB?) Cheers
Hello,
The files will be collected as part of the new site set up for this special challenge. I should be able to get them from there.
PLEASE NOTE, 16 x 20 or 20 x 16 IS THE MOUNT SIZE. NOT the image print size. For example, I will have the prints mounted at 16 x 20 inches, but the images must be smaller. If you wanted to have a 2" margin/border matt board (top , left and right sides), and 3" footer, your image should be just a tad over 11x16, or thats how I would see the printing.
I will need to ask the printer about thier preferences.
Cheers,
Oz

Gary,
For those of us who submitted an EOI using the old form, should we submit another one using the new form? I presume so, but don't want to spam you with EOIs.

Trent,
Yes. I'll be sending emails to everyone later tonight about that. We need a bit more than the first EOI requested - that was just an initial info gathering step, in the knowledge that we would still need bios and stuff.
The new form handles everything that we need, so by all means, please go ahead. If I then send you the email, you may just ignore that.

Simon,
There's no need for this to be a new image. What's in your archives?

I too have been racking my brain, and both brain cells are glowing hot... the theme to me (IMHO only), pitches right at everyday... and I tend to read that as, "everyday THINGS".
It takes a different angle to think through everyday SPACES, PLACES, EXPERIENCES...
then I thought through the other senses, and began to create images in my head of how I would love to see, what I had only ever SMELT, TOUCHED, TASTED, HEARD...
For inspiration, close your eyes, or perhaps wear a blindfold. Spend a few minutes, on each of the senses in isolation, sniff, listen, touch, taste, write down each one, then move onto the other sense, and in 20 minutes you will have a list of everyday SPACES, PLACES, EXPERIENCES, which you may not have seen clearly, and a corresponding image.
Short list it to say 3, then grab your clicker, and capture it!
I'm also experimenting in my head about ways to perhaps combine a few senses, captured, then blended in PP... I have not been around in this forum long enough to know, but I am guessing this may be one of the few challenges where you can go crazy on PP!
Go grab it, and best regards,
Oz

As said in the criteria, it doesnt need to be a fine art or arty shot.
Something normally which stands out from a snapshot can do the job very well. Keep the ordinary simple as it is....

On the gallery site, the EOI deadline reads 8th of Sept.
I've got my pic up there, but I know a friend of mine might be interested in this. She is no pro at photography at all, nor she is member here, can she still submit a pic for donation?

Which is when we need to have the EsOI to the organisers.
So we need it prior to that date.

I've finally caught up with several hundreds of posts after being busy for about 2 weeks!
This is a brilliant idea, and I have registered my EOI. I probably wont get a chance to shoot anything new, but should find something in my collection.
Thankyou for organising Oz_Beachside, Gary and Scott, what a fantastic cause!
What happens to photographs that do not get sold? Would they be returned to the owner mounted in the matt board?

Yes, if she can take care of the technical stuff and produce a suitable image, by all means.

Another question: Is it possible to have a collage type arrangement with three small images in the one matt board?

Hello,
I understand today, or shortly, each registered entrant, may receive an email from the event organiser, Pat Jarram.
If you get the same one I did, it may contain 2 attachements, 1 is the "terms and conditions" that exhibitors are asked to agree to, called "CONDITIONS OF ENTRY", and the second is a form to sign and return in agreement.
If you have any questions, just let me know.
Regards,
Oz

Please note the Maximum image size no larger than 24cm x 30cm
We will have your images printed to this by default, unless you specify a smaller size.
Through the generous support of Padey , we will have your prints printed in Sydney, then sent to me in Melbourne, where I will have them mounted.
I will have them mounted as per the conditions of entry, "white mat board, 16 by 20 inches in dimension. "
Regards,
Oz

ATM, I have just uploaded a small version of the image (800px wide) in sRGB colour space with .tif extension. I am assuming as it gets closer to the date that we will upload a correctly sized image with a defined colour space etc....or did I blow it and should have just uploaded a large image that the printers will then resize etc?

If you upload the FULL SIZE images, they are then available for site administrators to download.
I understand the site will limit the "public" image to a smaller file size, hence, keeping your good work protected.

Hi Matt,
I too, have only just received the forms. I will discuss with the organiser, what her intentions are with the "signed copies". At this stage, my assumption is that I will print the "labels" and adhere to the back and front of the mounts.
So for now, hold tight, I'll give her a call ASAP and find out on behalf of the group; great question!

Only information I have available to me at this stage is "maximum image print size is 24cm x 30cm". So perhaps you can keep this in mind when considering your image size, leading to print size.
The print size is YOUR choice, within the limits of 24cm x 30cm.
DPI may be a question Padey could answer...
I will confirm all with the organiser.
Thanks

Oz
When you talk to the organiser - can you ask what she intends to do for those where she DOESN'T receive a form. Reason I ask is that I haven't received an email (or it got killed as spam) so can't send one in . Others may be the same.

I have my email, it arrived three time actually.
However, I need help in deciding which image to submit. The gum leaf or the sunset?
