Photo shoot quote

Postby spaz on Thu Sep 14, 2006 5:04 pm

I have been approached to do a shoot for a hairdresser who is entering a competition but have no idea what to quote. I don't have experience with set up shots like this as I prefer candids so don't think that premium rates are an option - she has also said there is more potential work soon.

Should I charge per hour or just one rate? How much? Afterwards there will be postprocessing involved and the same questions apply - per hour / per image? And how much? What would standard rates in Sydney be as I will look towards a percentage of these?

I tried searching the forums but never found anything useful - if there are other threads please point me in the right direction.

i envy you hair test shots are great

as a guide chargign per hour wont really work because you could knock off the shoiot within an hour and if you charged bare minimum $100 per hour you would only get $100

anyway to win this sort of work i would be more concerned about being flexible in order to get more work instead of over charging and scaring the client away

Just being cynical (as I am), just be mindful that she maybe saying that just to try to get your price down. I say this as I have seen the promise of additional business (completely different industry mind you) in order to get a benefit now.

Yeah I considered both of those - I actually just called around town for some quotes to get an idea and took note of what I thought of the professionality (is that a word?) and quality of the work to make comparisons.
