Sweet spot for 80-400 VR Nikkor

Postby gleff on Sat Sep 16, 2006 10:33 pm

Just curious as to what people's opinions are in regards to what the best aperture to use for a nice crisp sharp image on the 80-400mm lens is. In other words, what's the sweet spot for sharpness?

I believe it is as most lenses, from f/8 to f/11 and up to f/16 then down again.

I cannot assure this to you, I'd better let someone who has this lens answer your question properly. ;)

I have just looked back at some of the sharpest images that I have taken with this lens, and whilst it may be hard to believe the very best are at f6.3.
