Please Help me pick a Hollows Challenge Photo

Well of course I've left it to the last minute and I haven't been able to shoot an idea I thought was right for submission so I've now gone through what I have on my laptop at work to see if I have a viable entry.

Below are the shots I've shortlisted please vote for the one you think I should submit, also if you have any suggests for different crops, PP etc I'd appreciate that too, but mainly I want to isolate a shot to submit by COB today.

1. Fiji Sunset (Sunsets are cliched, and tired)


2. Dessert (cream and topping)


3. Blue Waterlily


4. Purple Waterlily


5. Spire (lots of cropping options here)


6. Sea Captain (probably doesn't fit, but my favourite shot of late)


7. Ape Man

All lovely shots, but in context -

#1 too dark
#2 too fuzzy?
#3 I really like this one, nice perspective and depth
#4 not as good as #3
#5 too dark again?
#6 -
#7 - perhaps a crop just to the statue including the eyes of course

I like #2 most but think it needs a bit more cropped off from the top.

I'm hesitant to vote because I think you've done a lot better.

Plus, they have to be colour, so that knocks out #6.

I'm pretty much with Justin #3 and #4 are the pick, although I'd crop a little from the left of #3 to make it more balanced

Leigh - Thanks for the heads up about colour (I didn't realise), if you can think of any of my past work that fits the theme better then please let me know as I've been struggling for atleast a week with this already.

Peter the Original crop on that shot is 2134 x 1495 so its a fairly heavy crop but not ridiculous.

3 for me if you clone out the circle about half way up on the right hand side next to the flower.

For #3 I'd also pump up the saturation / contrast on the purple (leave the b/ground alone) a little.

So far both Waterlily shots are neck and neck, I've tried to reproces the first following the suggestions here, here is a resized version.

Have I gone too far, its very hard one these monitors to know how far to push it.

Brilliant job.

I have an LCD monitor and also a Dell (rebadged trinitron) set at a lower than normal colour temperature - looks perfect on both.

The only thing I would suggest you do is pop out and get a 6x4 print before final posting?

Even on my uncalibrated, dark & old monitor here looks great!!
