I am not the best to hand hold very stable but did a couple of test pics just to try the vr out, very rough but you will get the idea.

No Vr at 400mm at 1/40sec hand held

That is one hell of a weapon you have there to go duck shooting.

I reckon you should get yourself some tickets to the cricket you'd get some great shots there. You might even get in the press gallery with a beast like that!

Enjoy BBJ - an impressive looking piece of art on your D70 and you have proven the point with your pics on the useability of this lens.

Ahhh, a push pull dust vacuum like the Canon 100-400IS. I prefer the internal Zoom lenses myself because then you don't get air passing in and out of the lens during zoom. Still you should get some nice pics from it.

petal666,
It's not the push pull zoom!

Yeah, now that I look at it a bit closer it has a zoom ring. My apologies for likening it to the 100-400IS :)

John,

Glad you finally got what you wanted. Now 'tis time to get that monster tripod to carry that lens.

Cheers

It's much better than that. It's a Nikon!

Woo Hoo!!! Welcome to the club John,

I've played with the 80-400 for a while now and I'm still amazed as to just how much my keep rate has improved. I was initially anxious to see just how much difference VR really made, but after playing with one for a while, VR's now my best friend :-)

It still impresses me how it "locks" onto an image...

Cheers,
Mudder
