I'll probably be photographing in town tommorow teaching a mate a few things about his 400D and wouldn't mind meeting up either at 6PM or en route...
Ronza - it is my understanding that the 'Night Meet' is on Friday 20th October, 2006 at 6pm.
fozzie
When people ask what equipment I use - I tell them my eyes.
That's right. It's still 20/Oct at 6pm. Starting at Lights Vision for shots of the city and hills, then heading down to Pinky Flat (War Memorial Drive, opp Convention Centre). From there maybe walking up to Adelaide Bridge for shots of the new fountain and St Peters Cathedral. But it's up to people's interest on the night. So I think so far we have: Rookie2, Aussichef, BigV, Dreams, xorl, tyrone_tong, Stargazer and maybe: Fozzie, Ronza Daniel Nikon D4, D2Xs, D70, Nikkors and Sigmas lenses from 10 to 400mm

For all of the Adelaide people, the Australian Taekwondo Championships are on at the Superdome this weekend.
There are Patterns and self Defence comps Friday and Saturday, with the Fighting on Sunday. I'm coming down with some of my fighters, so hopefully some great wins and some great shots.... If you're really looking to hone your reaction skills come along and take a few shots..... Tony All I know, is that I don't know enough.....
Hey guys, anything happening saturday/sunday afternoon/night the 23rd/24th of Oct?
I will be in the city if anyone wanted to meet for some pics of the inner city and probably the parks. Anyway pm me or reply if anyone is interested. Thanks LIVE4EVA
Yeah I agree - it would make for good photograhpy. Am I prepared to do this for the benefit of my fellow dslrusers?? Hmmmm......let me think.........NO!!
Hi, I'd like to come along as well if luck* is on my side.
*luck = my sister returning from her holiday with all my camera gear. I went to one of the mini-meets down at the Port with Matt, Fozzie and BBJ back a few months ago, and have been meaning to get more involved here.
stadl - I can more than likely make the Meet now. If so, and your sister has not returned from holidays with your camera equipment, you can borrow my D70 and a suitable lens for the evening. BTW: haven't seen Matt (psionic) on-line for awhile, is he okay
fozzie
Hi Ady, I'm not actually attending but it's usually the more, the better. It's very much open and fun and you learn heaps. It's great to see more Adelaide people on the forum wanting to join in. Cheers, Lee Nikon D7000
Ady, you're welcome to bring along others. I think we're going to have the largest turnout ever. Likely starters are: Rookie2, Aussichef, BigV, Dreams, xorl, tyrone_tong, Stargazer, NewAperture, Ady and maybe: Fozzie, Ronza, stadl, jwsmith and no sparklers on wheels for Nat. Thanks fozzie, I might take you up on that - I spoke to her this evening and it appears she won't be back until Saturday 21st. Matt is doing well - I caught up with him on the weekend and he has been pretty busy with work of late. he could ask to be demoted back to his old job, but I think he likes his office .
Hi guys! change my status to "maybe" (but not in a wheelchair! - ha,ha). Although its been less than 2 weeks since the op, all seems to be progressing really well. I've hardly needed the crutches in the last couple of days so, fingers crossed, I'll be mobile enough to join in for a short time at least. I'll keep you posted. That said, if we can source a wheelchair, I'll bring some sparklers and maybe BigV will take a ride down Montefiore Hill for us
That's good news.
I'm sure we can just put Big V on skateboard or something... Daniel Nikon D4, D2Xs, D70, Nikkors and Sigmas lenses from 10 to 400mm

I have skateboarded down the hill in my silly younger days..so will be ready to give it a shot again, just need someone at the bottom to press the walk button so that I get a green light to use the morphet bridge to stop and not get killed by a car comming across the road!!!

Unfortunately I'll be work Friday night (argh! I'm not having much luck with these meets). I hope to be back in town around 9pm. What time do people anticipate packing it in for the night? If I'm back at a reasonable time I can give someone a call and catch up with the group.

I always learn alot when i go to a mini meet
or just on a shoot to the zoo with just a cpl of members I learnt a few crucial things about night photography last friday & besides that good company to boot lol warren Nikon D50/D80 Nikon,MB-D80 70-200 2.8 VR,Sigma 18-50 2.8, Kenko 1.4x TC, 2 kit lenses ,Nikon 50mm f1.8 Nikon SB-600 Tamron 90mm 2.8 Canon 500D closeup lens
Hi Katatonic,
It doesn't matter if you use a different camera, many of the basics will be the same (if you are new to photography as well). There are a few experienced photographers in the group and they are generally happy to help out and give some pointers. It really is great to go out with others and see how they see things and how they set up their gear. Cheers, Lee Nikon D7000
Katatonic, did we meet at festival under the stars and the zoo? Anyway, we will be able to give you a few pointers about photogrpahy... The only thing we cant do is lend you some lenses as none of ours will fit the minolta mount....
Canon
Unfortunately that wasn't me. Thanks for the reassurance, I'm basicallly a complete beginner to Photography but I want to get into it seriously. Like everyone else, I too have to start somewhere Let me know when the next meet is, I'll be there.
We've all been there. Start by shooting, and posting some of the results. Understand that when we're critiquing, we're going to be honest, but we're not being personal. Hopefully, you will understand that we're trying to help you improve your images, and that is the only goal when we offer such a critique. Coming to one of the minimeets is a great way to learn too, and with digital, the process is accelerated significantly because you can chimp your results, adjust, and reshoot. Enjoy g.
