LCD problem on D70smy D70s is under extended warranty with phototech and over the last week a couple of the LCDs (exposures remaining) have faded and disappeared. (ie 9 now looks like a 5)
I wonder what is best to do in this sutation - ie is it worth sending away immediately now that I am aware of the 'problem' or just put up with it and hope its not a sign of further degredation/failure of the LCD. anyone else had a similar issue with the top lcd display? cheers R2
You're talking about segments in the top LCD?
Mine has lost the battery display. Sometimes it's there, most times not. I just live with it. g.

I've got the Phototech warranty too and like yourself, I'm unsure if I'd send it over to them as the warranty card doesn't say a whole lot but does mention that if it's more expensive to fix they'll replace it with something worth the value.
This bothers me as I'd worry they'd replace it with something like a P&S when I'd prefer it be sent back. Not sure. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

i dont think you would have a problem with consumer affairs when they try to explain they replaced a current model camera 35mm camera with a point and shoot because the lcd has faded. something worth the value of a d70 is a d70.

www.colberne.com.au I purchased a Teddy Bear this morning for the sum of $10. I named him Mohammed. This afternoon I sold him on E-Bay for $30. My question is, "Have I made a prophet?"
I had the same problem with my D70 a couple of years ago, and it was fixed under warranty by Maxwells.
It took them forever to get the parts though, and fortunately I kept the camera with me and got them to call me when they were ready to fix the camera - about 2 months, as I recall! TFF (Trevor)
