POTW 7th November 2006Well time for the hard task again, going through the many wonderfull pictures posted by our membership!
There were a couple of standouts this week, for example I very much liked Yi-P's different take on a sydney landmark and then I also suffered some gear lust but also admiration at Heath's water shots using his new housing But in the end I must pick only one pic! And this week it is an image from Pippin88's Tin City collection from Stockton beach And my favourite of that collection is this one: Now what's not to like about this image? Brilliant texture of the sand (not to mention great saturation) Moody sky, the stark contrast between the land and the shed... Take note people! Use the "Golden hours to shoot". Get up early, take an early mark from work, (or just quit!) GET OUT THERE! Well Done Pippin88! New page

Nice Choice Scott and well done Nick, feels like it straight from a coffee table book! (and that is meant as a compliment).
Woo Hoo Nick !
Was a bloody great shot, and deserved to be POTW Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships! -Ansel Adams

Nick, That's pretty wild processing! It's amazing how much drama the colours add....but I'm sure there is still a beautiful image left in the original. I see something dark and moody there.

Well deserved POTW, outstanding colour, could be Innamincka or Birdsville at first glance with all that sand and beautiful light.

www.colberne.com.au I purchased a Teddy Bear this morning for the sum of $10. I named him Mohammed. This afternoon I sold him on E-Bay for $30. My question is, "Have I made a prophet?"
Thankyou all.
Images come out of my D70 very flat. I have the standard curve with every image modifier (ie saturation etc) turned off or to its lowest. I very much still consider it a photo. All I did was tweak the colours slightly (a little more red, yellow and blue) and apply a curve. There isn't even any selective editing. Darkroom manipulation can achieve and is often used to achieve the exact same thing. I would like the out of camera colour of a D2x or similar. - Nick

add to that what films such as velvia do to the colour of an image and i'll repeat, well deserved. Simon
