Extended Warranty

Newer members often state that they think their question is too basic, or stupid, or whatever, to be posted. Extended Warranty

Hello

im looking at whether purchasing extended warranty through http://www.camerastore.com.au is worth the money.

has anyone dealt with these guys for warranties before?

Hi Katie,
I haven't dealt with them before but generally I would say it depends on:

a) how much it is
b) what exactly is covered, made sure you read the fineprint

Also I would only consider this for a camera, not a lens. Lenses hardly ever break down when treated properly, I haven't had one fail yet. My D70 on the other hand failed about 4 months after the 12 month warranty expired. It cost me over $300 to fix.

Last time I looked into this the extended warranty you purchase covers only manufacturing defects so you need to weigh up the cost vs the chance of such a defect becoming apparent AFTER the manufacturers warranty expires
