Christiand,
Is it with the TC or non TC? I'm sure you do better than those pics at tomorrow. Today is just your practice day and tomorrow will your show day. Hope I'll have a nice print of them from you soon. Birddog114

I was on the lawns between the Old and the New Parliament.
I was quite lucky, I had the evening sun shining on them. I will take more photos tomorrow. Flight Lieutemamt Benjamin Cartwright, Roulette 7, responded to my query; they are going to be over Lake Burkey Griffin tomorrow at 12:00 Cheers CD
without TCThe Roulettes are also over Sydney Harbour tomorrow, I think at 15:00.
Cheers CD

Good shots, Christian, and I'm looking forward to more.
Have to admit, I never thought I'd warm to the PC-9s the boys are now flying as I grew up with the old Macchi "Fanta Cans" strutting their stuff but photos like this make it hard not to luv 'em. Simon

Red ArrowsA few or rather quite some years ago the Red Arrows did a show in Canberra.
Jets, awesome. I still remember when the crowd on the balcony of the High Court took a dive. It looked as if one aircraft was coming in too close, people ducked ! Cheers CD
Is that so! Awesome! New page

Re: Red Arrows
CD - it was during the bi-centenial and they did the same in Sydney. I was on a ferry when they came across the harbour at deck level from all directions - awesome Chris Chris

One of them was all over Sale last week my karma just ran over your dogma
70-200 2.8 VRHi Rusty,
I was using a 70-200 2.8 VR. It was j u s t quick enough to auto focus. However I may have to change my strategy when attempting those shots. Tomorrow I will try these settings: changeing the autofocus area to Dynamic area keeping the autofocus to continuous and having the focus lock applied. (so if the D70 is set to autofocus single area, you don't accidently move the focus are away from the center to the or a fringe sensor !) That's what happened today and I "lost" a number of shots. Unless you have a very quick focussing system you my need to revise your strategy and try to manually outsmart the situation. The "Silent Wave" focussing lenses are fast. HTH CD
Christian - great shots. I look forward to the new, improved shots tomorrow.

Re: 70-200 2.8 VR
CD, So you used the spot in these shots? dynamic is far lot better than! I found it, with the D70 in shooting bird and plane, but it's not fast as the D2h, you'll surprise how fast is it. I can lock those Roulettes easy with my D2h and nail each of them down in difference pattern, tack sharp. With these planes, the 200-400VR will do better though, but need to set it up with the Wimberley Sidekick and haeds + leg. Unfortunately, I have to get into my customer site after 12:00 today, perhaps, call my engineers and let them there by themselves and take a sickie day. The VR and "silent wave" focusing is the best system I've found with the 70-200VR/ 200-400VR and the new 300VR, you'll appreciate the SW in these shooting events. BTW, you qualified for the AA team leader (Anti Aircraft) you deserved a medal:lol: Birddog114

Great pics, i like that last one best. Nice and sharp and a great angle.
But there seems to be two planes missing I wonder where they are. Steve.
