A collection of photos found on my computer...

For my first submission, instead of going out and taking photos (oh crap its hot) I thought I'd take the lazy option of posting a couple of photos taken long ago that I found on my computer.

A note on these two images. They were scanned from a F60 film (remember that stuff?) SLR. However, they look alot different from the developed versions. In gerneral, the scanner has made them alot flatter (particularly #1) and the colour and tone is different by some margin. I tried to correct this in PS but it only seemed to make it worse (read: artificial)

These two are from a Nikon CP3700 P&S digital. Its almost completely auto controlled which leaves little for creativity.

This was taken in a school photography class with god knows what equipment. I developed the film, photo myself. While an interesting learning experience, I don't think I'll ever develop another roll of film again. The laborious and repetitive nature would annoy me very quickly.

DiZZ. You're right, but I like a challenge (=I need a life ). Did a little experimenting. Seems the & isn't liked. Replaced it with %26 which in HTML speak (or hex ASCII - take your pick) is the same as a &. See your pic embedded below.



Now I'll never use a & in a filename again.

Edit: Forgot to mention. I also really like #3. Very creative.

One other point. Be mindfull of your audience. While I, like many here, have broadband there are a lot who still use modems. These files are way too large to be embedding (eg the last one weighs in around 1Mb). I try to keep my pics no more than 200K and resize them in PS to be at most 1000 pixels on the widest dimension plus I use jpg to compress. That way they'll load heaps faster and we get to see your work that little sooner.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Stubbsy, I'll try and be more wary of image sizes in the future. As I'm sure you know, theres a trade off between image size and quality against file sizes, the settings I chose were the best for each image while keeping sizes what I considered reasonable.
I have no idea why the b&w one is more than a meg. I'm thinking I forgot to convert it to grey scale before saving.
