Some tragic news just released. Looks like 2 Australian soldiers have lost their lives. It will be a quite day at work tomorrow.

Yeah, tragic that we've lost more lives to an air crash. Sad that it happened to HMAS Kanimbla, again. They lost Shark 02 as well during the tsunami relief ops on Nias. I do have a few friends on that ship. I was on it for a short time in 2001.

I doubt that we'll ever find out what truly happened as the helo is in about 2500 metres of water. It will never be recovered.

The Blackhawks are a great aircraft. Don't let the media sway you into thinking it is crap with their negative propaganda.

Id like to join in with condolences regarding the very sad loss of lives.
Some press reports that the Black Hawk slid of the HMAS Kanimbla when attempting to land.
Does anybody know what exactly happened ?

surely it cant be another simple mechanical fault again. they wouldve learnt their lesson from last time.
im not too sure as to what happened- havent been up to date with the news as of late!

It is important to remember that these men and women are doing dangerous stuff all the time, not just when they are in direct conflict scenarios, and they deserve our greatest respect.

I have been at sea on Kanimbla and it is not a small target for a helo to land on, but it still requires a smidge of skill Landing on the quarterdeck of a frigate in a storm, now that's a medal earning exercise. They winch the buggars down.

Sad to say the least. The pilot became a father for the first time 3 months ago.

The SAS trooper that is missing is believed to be trapped in the wreckage some 2500 metres below the surface. Highly unlikely that he will ever be recovered.
