The Surface of the Sun

Found this site with amazing astronomical photographs and information regarding our 'daylight bulb' (the sun).

I wonder what kind of filter they have to put on top of the lens in order to stop down all that light...

Fascinating read. I like the sound of a solid surface model.

If it is solid, that means we can stand on it.... 8)

That will be something to do in the year of 3280...

Unfortunately you cant buy a filter for your DSLR for X-Ray photos... but you can buy solar filters to cut back white light, I have one for my 25cm Newtonian. If you can find an optically flat #14 welders glass, that is ok too, if you don't mind the green colour.
You can also buy very narrow band H-alpha filters with around 1 Angstrom bandpass for spectacular photos that show all sorts of detail that is not visible in broadband white light... but they are extremely expensive.

That certainly does make for some intersting reading, thanks for posting the link.

I've got a camera, it's black. I've got some lens, they are black as well.
