Wet weather venues

Am planning to do a wedding in a couple of weeks. Second wedding where I actually charge $$$ and a main photog instead of a second shooter or freebeee...

What do you guys normally do when it comes to park shots and the day is a wash out. Any good venue when it rains. Looking around the Fairfield area..

Any advice on Parks and Wet Weather location would be great...
Links to sites where good locations in Sydney would also come in handy..

As to locations over the Fairfield way mate, I'm not too sure.
What I would suggest you do is go to DJ's or a big dept. store and purchase 5-6 big black (stylish) umbrella's...they act as a great 'prop' for wet weather weddings.

I can't help you much with exact locations in Sydney, but maybe can help with ideas.

In the past my wet weather contingency plans for the couple of weddings I've done included a Historic Railway Station (covered platforms), a hertiage-listed mansion and a 1900's Band Stand / Rotunda as a retreat point in the park should it start to pour down.

I guess the main thing I take into account is where I ideally want to conduct the shoot according what the couple want. I then Scout the location the week before to the same day and time if I can to check for unplanned annoyances like automatic sprinklers, how harsh the light is etc.

I then check for any activities such as a fair or other scheduled events for the location. Then I figure out alternative locations close-by for bad weather, or if something unplanned occurs. I then rescout a couple of days before to check that something hasn't been altered in the location (fire, scaffolding, earthworks).

Another bad weather tip: I keep a couple of old heavy hessian potato sacks in the boot of the car. I've had a wedding before where the rain had passed and wasn't coming back, but the ground in the park was still damp with some of the paths a bit muddy. I got my assistant to lay down the sacks on anywhere the path was too muddy for the bride/groom to walk over - keeping the bride's shoes clean (a quick way to get the bride offside is to get any of the attire dirty!!).

Railway stations - excellent.
Ahyone shootinside shoping centres.. I like the idea of shooting at the escalators - but that prob it.. Thanks for the info daniel - excellent ideas there...

then charge for the extra travell and time
hey - it does rain here in syd - and at times where you dont want it to be.
I shoot a Car Club cruise a few weeks ago and the entire day was perfect untill the meet up at night where it started to semi rain and so windy...
