G'day,
Just about to head out to play with the toy (D70) and thought I'd post a couple from this morning's sticky nose at Gulf Station... Can't help it, it's that fetish with old farms again ;-)

Anyway, just loaded PhotoShop CS, sheeesh, I'm starting all over again now. I was just getting the hang of PaintShopPro (v9), but wow PS is fast.... When making edits the difference in speed is surprising... Anyone else tried the two different programs and found things like that?

I'll now be haunting the tutorial links :-)

Hi Mudder - great pics :)

what lens were these taken with?

Only comment I've got is maybe try a little less foreground on the third one (?). Other than that, get them printed and into a frame pronto :)

I'm a real sucker for old buildings. These are great and thanks for sharing them with us. Nice bit of PP too - putting that blue sky into a Victorian location!

Cheers

Kit lens 18-70 with CPL and lens hood to try and avoid flare as I was mostly taking shots towards the sun (very strong sun ~36 degrees here)

rokkstar wrote:...What PP went on here?

Sharpened the foreground and just slightly darkened the sky with PS curves... That little magic wand thingy is a pearler for selections!

Twas a bewdiful day, topped off with the best souvlaki I've had in years... Little fish 'n chip shop just past the Yarra Glen pub... Yum.. Dribbled all down my chin :-) Lucky I wasn't wearing my tie, otherwise the garlic sauce stain would clash with the bolognaise stains already there ;-)

Mudder

G'day,
It's a problem here in Melbourne when the sky is usually so blue all the time ;-) It's usually too nice here and we miss out on the stormy skies

Great photos,
also great location.
I like the last one (with the horses) best.
(perhaps a little bit less foreground on that one)

Cheers

Mudder

These shots all had terrific impact for me. They all seem to pull me in to them. I think they'd be right at home in any "coffee table" book.

Hi Mudder,
I particularly like this one

Image

Great use of thirds, lovely contrast in all three aspects of the photograph. Well done.

G'day BBJ, The CPL is arguably the best thing I've bought for the D70, that makes more difference to the sky (and some aspects of the foreground) than the PP, I'm amazed at how effective it is when shooting at an angle to the sun, the clouds seem to magically pop-up from the blue sky background... I'll have to try some of the PSCS border actions as they make a huge difference to the total feel of an image...

G'day Andy,
Sorry mate, I was rabbiting on about the magic wand selection tool in PS CS, great (ie: pearler = Oz slang for excellent) for selecting areas of sky etc for any PP stuff... Couldn't help it with the Clydesdale foal, it was such a friendly thing, kept coming over to me for a pat... Beautiful natured animal... Every time I tried to compose a shot of it, it just kept coming right up to me, so I thought what the heck... I really believe animals can sense who mean them no harm...

Sigh, I just noticed the dust bunny... Sigh... Looks like I'm gonna have to bite the bullet, be a big boy and clean da CCD!!!!

Cheers,
Mudder
