Famed Photographer Switches Canon For NikonSaw this on another site and thought it was quite interesting, considering the switches usually happens the other way round.
http://www.clickpress.com/releases/Deta ... 05cp.shtml When asked why he made the change he said, “My main concern is always the final image's quality. Most of my fine art prints get blown up to fairly big sizes and it is of utmost importance to me that the camera is not the weakest link in my artwork. Tests under laboratory conditions really don't mean a lot to me. I like to see what the image quality is in the field and in my studio. So far I am only more convinced that my change was the right choice.”
Could be a marketing ploy by Nikon.... similar to what Canon did a while ago with some famous photogs switching from Nikon to Canon with big fanfare.
I'll still continue to use my Canon happily
For me, I think that most DSLR's out there will make me happy enough, but for a pro, different :O ---
Equipment: camera body, wide lens, standard lens, telephoto lens, flash Wish list: skill
I certainly would not take much notice of this one. The kind of art that he does seems to depend more on his PS skills. I'm sure it starts with a very good studio session to get the poses that he starts with. However to most photographers, I don't see them saying, "Wow, if I have a Nikon camera, I can do this!"
Just some PR work. It is nice to see a switch to Nikon for a change. Cheers, André Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Ansel Adams
(misc Nikon stuff)
I just compared some iso3200 images on the weekend from D200 and 5D.
5D kick a$$. I will see how the fuji S5 goes, if it is not that great I will pickup a 5D
Interesting that it doesn't mention what Canon gear he was using (that he believed was letting him down) and what Nikon gear he moved to (which gave him the better results he was after).
Way too much generalisation for my liking... I think we all know enough to see this for what it really is Dave
Nikon D7000 | 18-105 VR Lens | Nikon 50 1.8G | Sigma 70-300 APO II Super Macro | Tokina 11-16 AT-X | Nikon SB-800 | Lowepro Mini Trekker AWII Photography = Compromise
It only has to be the assistant who forgot to bring them...
Ummm he should be shooting medium format or 4x5...
