It's covered in their tips section here under Double page panoramas. I've had problems with uploads too. It won't work reliably from Firefox. You MUST use IE You can also post it to them on a CD
The reason why I am asking is that the preview after the upload shows misalignment when you overlap the image at the "safe area". How does it turn out in the final book?
Do you mean misaligned vertically or the overlap doesn't look right
Vertically its perfect. Overlap doesnt look right. I havent recieved my first book and attempt yet. Hence the question before I order the second book.

I've just checked my online book and the local mbk master file for the same pages (pages 16 & 17 of the online book). My online display shows less overlap than the real thing (ie it shows a bit duplicated on both pages). The BEST place to look is the pdf you produced when you created the file for them since the PDF is an EXACT match of what will happen.

Yes Peter I am using internet explorer.
Tried again at 5.30am this morning and I got through
Wish I had more photos worth printing. I must admit I was pretty excited about appearing in print that I only spent about an hour putting it together as I had an urgency to get it done. Atleast I can only improve.

Glad it finally worked. IMHO the upload problems are the weak link in the chain for them.
I also know they come here occasionally since they mentioned to me on the phone that they'd read this thread so no doubt they'll be aware of this.
Hope the finished product lives up to expectations.

Spoke to Libby on email and apparently they have a new upload system going live by now. Hopefully that sorts the problem out.

I bypassed the upload problems by sending a CD. For the cost of a disc and postage it produced a lot less angst.

I would publicly thank stubbsy for the great help with regards to the double spread pano using the momento software. I fixed both books and submitted them.
Momento allowed me to swap my secret project book which was ordered last week with no fusss. They truely have great customer service and I eagarly await the books.

I found this in the Search function (rarely works on other sites!). Awhile back, I downloaded Momento (before there was a Pro section) and have almost finished my mono book - trouble is, I keep adding to it Then I recently found the Momento Pro site. My question: has anyone started with the non-pro and ended up with the pro. If so, what's the difference between the layouts etc etc. I know its no big deal to download the pro version but I have almost finished the text, EXIF data with each image etc etc and I don't really want to start all over again. But if its worth it, I will. I also understand that they will link your book on your website so folk can see the pages turn in the book (just like the demo version on the site). Has anyone done this?
Sorry, lots of questions I know!
Cheers and thanks in anticipation

Sheila I've had both. I started a book with no pro then switched to pro. The files are the same with one big difference. In the non pro version when you create a book the largest size is A4. In the Pro version the largest size is A3.
So to do A3 you need the Pro version. Otherwise they both are functionally identical, you use them the same and layout works the same. Downside is that book size is specified at the start and can't be changed so if you start an A4 in non pro you can't open it in Pro and make it A3. I also believe ICC profiling is supported in pro, but not non pro. Big things about Pro membership is a higher discount level, larger sizes and the ability for more varied cover types (and you can also get unbound proofs). HTH PS Back on page 1 of this thread (you did read all 5 pages didn't you ) I linked to my online version. To save you the trip, if you want to see what my book looks like, click this link for the online preview

Thanks so much, Peter, for responding to my request. I will definitely download the pro version. Your images are beautiful. I have a similar shot of Darling Harbour fountain.
I have been thinking of submitting my mono work to a publisher (yes, I know, huge competition out there ) but this would be one of the best ways to do it. Send them the link to see if they are interested.
Cheers

Thanks for the compliment Sheila. I'd noticed that fountain pic in your gallery ( a wider and different take - which is the beauty of this hobby) when I looked after you joined. - Said to myself I have one like that
Good luck with the submission. We suffer from the fact Australia is a small market and we are so far away from the big publishing houses for OS submission. Bet they get hundreds of unsolicited manuscripts a week.

I just flicked through your in-progress Momento book, Peter, and I must say it's a terrific looking piece. I'd forgotten that so many of the shots I'd admired here over the last year or so were yours.
Thanks for the tips about Momento - now I just have to find a decent photographer to shoot the images for me!!

One more question, Peter, if you please! Do you have to be a Reseller to have the benefits of Momento Pro? Its not too clear from their website. I keep getting diverted back to the non pro site for the new pro download.
Cheers

You can't download the Pro version until they've given you access.
Being a member here qualifies you for Pro, just put 111111111 (that's 9 of them) in as ABN and say you're a member here and fill in the other details. They'll then get back to you with your prices and allow access. THEN you can download the Pro version.

Peter - on the pro site registration screen - where can you tell them that you're a member of this forum??? I couldn't see any obvious comments box and it was prompting me to say how many books a year I expected to sell

It's not laid out the best. I can't recall, but I said three books per year. I thought there was a box somewhere for freeform text, but I just checked and there isn't. I know at the time I emailed them aboput ti and they said they were going to change it. Just complete what you can. This side really lets them down doesn't it.

Peter,

I was talking to momento and they were working on problems with the site. I too have had difficulty in registering for pro, but they were helpful and gave me the discount anyway. My first Album should be on the way, and if I am happy I will order the second straight away.
I do however agree that the web site needs almost a complete redesign.

Does this mean that you are signing up for a minimum number of books per year and / or do you only get the discount after that number of books?
Cheers

Not signing up, but rather estimating and you get the discount immediately.

Georgie, this from there terms and conditions
3.1 You must order a minimum number of photobooks from us in any calendar month as defined by your membership category and the Momento Pro Reseller pricing table as advertised at the Site.
Maybe I'm reading to much into it

MATT,
I think that they were going to revise their T&C some time ago.
From memory, we are entitled to the Pro level because we are a photo club.

Glad you guys are happy. I just got my A3 reprint back with the pages now in the correct order and I too am happy. Everything must have gone out at once.
If I was the sales rep I'd be getting a better discount than I do. I know of at least one other member here who is getting better discounts than I am.

Stubbsy, Just a question, With your Title bars ie. Newcastle/2005/ect did you just make them up in photoshop or something?
I am going to do a book with pics of my kids of 2005, I made a title bar fo each child but I was less than impressed with MY results
EIDT" I found the DESIGN TIPS page"
Thanks

Yep As you deduced I followed what the design tips page said.
The title bars were all done in photoshop. Likewise the pages with a dark background (NOT solid black BTW - a very dark grey) were a very small (maybe 10 x 10 pixel) solid colour jpg I enlarged to fit the page as the background then overlayed it with the images

Received album the other day and given it to client and they were ecstatic about it.
Pardon my ignorance but it'd be nice to select different grades of paper. I noticed crinkling on some pages due to the printing. I know it's pedantic, but heck I like being pedantic

I had a quick scan of this thread and of the Momento help, but couldn't find the answer to this question...
Which colour mode should I be using when saving my JPGs for use in a Momento book? Adobe RGB?

Input profile recognition: assuming your files have profiles embedded, the Momento software will recognise your working colour space & convert to its native work space of Adobe RGB (1998). If no profiles are detected, sRGB is assumed to be the files' colour space.

Just got my holiday album back I submitted and am quite happy overall with the print quality. Some of my photos are technically well ... bad but they capture something significant from the trip and it was the best I could do in the circumstances.
The only thing I will say is that the images are a little darker than they appeared on my monitor.
Nice finish on the cover, I got the leather finish and the embossed title. I found the dusk jackets too expensive to consider using them. Why are they so expensive I wonder?
Now that I have seen the quality I will soon submit some wedding albums.
Thanks to Stubbsy for putting me onto this.

Quick bump
I've got a few wedding and portrait albums to do for friend/etc, and also two or three folio albums to do soon...
Are you guys still happy with the service of momento pro?
Is the quality up to wedding album standard?
Cheers

Hi Kyle,
My experience with Momento is very good. However, you can't compare a wedding album with what Momento offers, they are two very different and unique ways of presenting photos. I think the user interface and the print quality of momento albums is excellent. Hope this helps.

You need to allow about 3 weeks turnaround time.
