3 more from the Himalayas

Hi All,

Have put up 3 more images from my Himalayan travels.

001.jpg = A mountain called Pandim which was about 23,500 feet (about 7000 meters) high. Also that was not a cloud blowing at the peak it was actually snow drift. Aproached from the state of Sikkim, this was a 15 day walk requiring permission from the Sikkim govt. The trek took us to a place called "Goicha La" which is a pass between the third highest mountain in the world - Kanchenjunga and Pandim itself.

004.jpg = From a village I have visited quite a few times called Sandakphu, which has one of the most panaromic views of the Himalayas, as you can even see Everest from here. (not in the pic though)

007.jpg = One of the more scarier walks I have done. 22 days, some of which were spent walking in the most dense of mountain forests I have ever seen. In the pic, we were walking on a Glacier for a whole 2 days. The path made up from rocks that have fallen off the mountains, and gathered on the Glacier ice. Ocasionally (read very often) the ice could not support the weight of the piled up rocks. It caved in, and we could hear a splash a bit later as there was a river flowing underneath.

All images taken with the FM3A. Batteries were frozen, so I was glad I had this camera. In places where there was extreme cold, the metal shutter was sometimes jamming up, and after ripping a film inside my camera, I quickly learnt to wind the film lever real slow. Dont know where I could have charged batteries if I has a D70!!!

Thanks for sharing. Like all your other work, these shots are fantastic. I don't think there's been a single one of these shots I didn't like. My favourites though are easy. I particularly like the second, fourth & fifth ones in this group where you've got layered mountains fading into the distance. Just magic (fourth one is a touch better since I like the person in the foreground as it tells a better 'story'). If only we had terrain like that here. Guess I'll have to sell some lenses to go OS and get a few shots

Truly sensational. I envy you so much for being able to enjoy the sheer delight that you must have had visiting such and amazing place.

I shall go out on a limb and say that i reckon it would be very difficult to shoot a photograph in that place without it being fantastic., but you seem to have been able to get something more out of the pics than just the scene offers.

Well done with those pics.

I reckon you should consider an exhibition with the pics you have shown us.

Wow, what an amazing place and your photos really seem to do the place justice... I find 001 to be a very powerful image with the wind blowing the snow off the mountain top and the people in 004 (admiring the view) makes me feel melancholic... 007 is just plain scary!!!

Thanks once again for all your replies. Have finished a few more pics and will be posting them today.

I would love to get together for a meet. Will try and make it on the 5th. of Feb for the Photoshop tutorial and Mini meet.

I dont have the address to get to Birddog's though.
