Nikon 80 - 200 F2.8 AF ED Arrived

Postby threesongs on Sat Jan 06, 2007 7:08 pm

My Nikon 80 - 200 F2.8 AF ED arrived a couple days ago off ebay. I bought it for $500 delivered - seems in pretty good condition - haven't really shot anything with it yet - hopefully got a couple of concerts coming up soon. Will be awesome for the Adelaide Big Day Out.

Congrats on the new toy.

Be careful - they might not let you in with that. Check the back of your ticket and you'll see it says "no professional cameras" (whatever that means). May be worth a phone call to confirm exactly what is allowed in.

No its fine - i received my Photo Pass in the mail yesterday - im shooting for a website called The Dwarf.

I recently came back from the Falls Festival in Lorne, Vic - photos are up on my website - http://www.threesongs.net/gallery

Initially i didnt have a photo pass for Falls - but this very kind photographer (Simon Ferguson) offered me his 2nd pass.

Have fun, I love that focal range, and at 2.8 you can get some great shots.

I had the 80-200 two ring, and bokeh was great for half way through f-stops.

Enjoy! :D

yes it is indeed =)
what an awesome lense even for portrait...
I've been using it on the 200 side with f2.8 -- i just have to walk back a bit - for half bodies and close up shots - it looks unreal...

I shoot concerts predominantly - so the F2.8 is pretty important for me. I was actually thinking about hiring this lens for the Big Day Out - but then 1 happened to appear on Ebay for the right price.

Welcome to the forum Threesongs. :)

The 80-200 F2.8 is an excellent lens, I have one myself an I've taken some great shots with it. Shooting bands with it will be fine. It's nice and sharp, even at F2.8

I reckon it's as good as the 70-200 VR.

Great price for it too. You've done well. Please make sure you post some images of the concert. Enjoy it. :)
Steve.
