Lol...it seems that this area of the forum never seem to move...

So if any of you guys are brave enough to battle your way through the cobwebs and stuff....

Can you please give me some location idea's for sunset shots...I can never seem to find the right place to be to get sunsets, there always seems to be something in the forground to ruin the shot...power lines, building etc...

Oh it would be great if it was within an hour from Brisbane too.

I found the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand to be great too.
That is if you have really good wet weather gear for your camera, a thick skin, heaps of warm clothes and a really good heater in the car.
Ohh - and be really careful cause they don't know the road rules over there.

........ head for a long jetty on the bay....... on the North side....... there are a few so have a look at a street directory......... the view will be across water towards mountains and city....... different lens different results.......

this is something I have also researched, but not done as yet, as I am a little too far away for a quick shot of the setting sun....... saving this shoot for the next time I am up Brissy way

I've gotten some wonderful sunsets from Amity beach on Straddie before...but I dont really want to travel there just for a sunset shot...

I wil definitley try some of the other locations mentioned...Wellington Point is looking good for starters..

I reckon if you head up to Wild Horse Mountain just off the highway north of Caboolture and take the Moby Vics (Mobil servo) exit, the lookout there should provide some top sunsets over the Glasshouse Mountains in the right light. I am going to do it myself one day.

I like Craig's idea of Bribie across towards the glasshouse mountains as it does not include the hideous costs of getting across to Moreton or Straddie.

The northern end of the Hornibrook bridge can be great on the right day. And for something a little different try the cliifs at Kangaroo Point. Looks great with all the city lights just coming on.

have you compared shots taken from the top of the Kangaroo point cliffs to shots taken at the base of the same cliffs? Any preference for how they turn out? Getting the vic. bridge in the shot and making the composition work could be tricky.

Anywhere in QLD so long as it's south of Coolangatta is a great place for sunsets. The air is cleaner in northern NSW....

Perhaps you could all sneak down over the border into Mexico for a meet???

Thinking of Coastal Rainforest walk, lighthouse and Australia's most easterly mainland beach.

I live on 2 acres on the ridge above it all and don't charge for camping, on top of this I know a few good B&B's if that’s more your style.

Any takers or other suggestions
