Suicidal photographer

Some of you may have seen this already. This is a series of shots of a photographer taking pics with a tripod 900 metres above the floor of the grand canyon. Nothing unusual EXCEPT he's set up on a solitary rock outcropping NOT attached to the side.

I suggest these be viewed in sequence (each image has commentary by the photographer who took the pics of this daredevil):

I've seen this before and truly amazing stuff of this thing. I believe he just did it for showing off. I will not risk this for even the best picture in my life that can be taken at that rock. Not a chance.

So the shots and commentary from the photog on Flickr are deliberately misleading. Interesting. Mind you, not the first - nor the last - time that photographs are used to deliberately mislead, but it is a great reminder to never believe anything that you see, hear or read. Including this.

So the shots and commentary from the photog on Flickr are deliberately misleading. Interesting. Mind you, not the first - nor the last - time that photographs are used to deliberately mislead, but it is a great reminder to never believe anything that you see, hear or read. Including this.

So in short, do not trust photographers' stories... They are the masters in visual illusion

I was originally sent this in an email and thought it might be suss. So I googled the photog and went to his flickr site to verify it. Having read through it I just took him at his word. Should have checked one of the urban myths sites first

I out clevered mysefl Dave I googled the photographer - he was #1 and I went straight to his Flickr site. Should have looked further. And I certainly know better
