Got a wii...

Postby owen on Wed Jan 17, 2007 9:17 pm

and I'm having a blast. It's really awesome fun, even though I'm just playing with the included games Wiisport and wiiplay. You can also download super mario and other old games. Even hook it up to the net wirelessly and browse the web on it.

Highly recommended. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, check here: http://wii.nintendo.com/

Yeah, friends of mine have got one. I actually broke out in a sweat playing a computer game.

A lot of fun.

Man, I was dripping in sweat after doing the baseball batting practice. Hitting home runs is fun, but hard work!

I so want one.

For the moment, I've got a modded DS, but I want a Wii.

Looks like a cool way to lose weight. :P

Plus, I want to see how it interacts with my DS.

They're really onto something. I'm sure Leigh will hate to read this, but I reckon Nintendo is the Apple of game consoles (minus the price tag). It's not how many pixel shaders or processing pipelines you throw at a problem, it is the user experience that counts! Both Nintendo and Apple seem to be becoming masters at this, while the poor SOBs at Sony and Microsoft are still counting megaflops...

That's so degrading, Steffen... short of the Wii straps, Nintendo actually make quality products and pioneer current technologies.

Apple just extend them. :P

Well, in my view (I'm careful to qualify my opinions as of late) neither Apple nor Nintendo revolutionise technology, they just magically make state-of-the-art (or even older) technologies work for a similar goal: user experience. They both pioneer ideas and new approaches to doing stuff. They both manage to make technology invisible to the end user that has no interest in how things work, just wants them to work. And right in the face of the giants. Good on them! Both Apple and Nintendo have managed to survive on the brink of extinction and being clobbered my marketing giants.

In the light of recent developments (Apple Computer Inc changing its name to Apple Inc) I can see "Apple buys Nintendo" as a far more likely scenario than "Apple and Sony merge". If only for business attitude compatibility reasons.

Cheers

I'll definitely be getting Zelda, it's been called the best game ever in some reviews. But a good adventure game is just what I need. The other party games I'm sure I'll either rent or get eventually.

Wait for Trauma Center when it comes out.

This game was soooo much fun on the DS but it never came out in Australia... and that's a bit concerning seeing as the DS isn't region locked and the Wii is.

I've heard Red Steel is also a waste of time, I have yet to actually play it though.

I still have my original Nintendo game...And still use it!

Can any MS or Sony users say the same?

Pat and I got a Wii today - I think we found the last one in Westfield Eastgardens - and of course it was at the last place we looked!

We have been playing the sports games all afternoon and it's so much fun! I'm really surprised at how much you have to get up and move around and how much of a workout it is, but it's great fun and a nice change from the traditional consoles where you are just sitting on your butt the whole time.

Pat's about to give Zelda ago.
Cheers,

Why would you keep looking after you found it anyway? ;)

Bruce got exhausted after playing the Wii in the heat today:

My wife and I bought our 23 year old son the Wii for Christmas. Everyone who played it Loved it!! Problem is that he has recently moved in with his girlfriend, and taken the unit with him :(

I've tried everywhere (over the last couple of weeks) to buy another Wii unit for my wife, non to be seen.

Stocks are meant to start arriving towards the end of this month.....

Great game unit..... and I normally do not like game units at all.
All I know, is that I don't know enough.....
