10D lens compatibility

Postby devilla101 on Sat Feb 10, 2007 7:05 pm

Just wondering if the canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM & Tokina 12-24mm is compatible with the 10D. I tried googling it but no success

Thanks y'all

I guess with the Tokina there could be a question, although it came out after the 10D so any surprises about compatibility would be weird: 3rd-party manufacturers such as Sigma/etc generally only get caught by later camera models.

As for the Canon EF 24=105mm/4 L IS USM, it's a Canon EF therefore it will work with all EOS bodies. The EF-S lenses only work with the 300D/350D/400D/20D/30D (and probably the 40D if that's the up-coming replacement for the 30D ;)) but the EF lenses work with all EOS bodies!

Bollocks. The mount can be modified to work :D I had an EF-S 18-55 kit lens on my 10D for a while.

Yes the 18-55mm can be modified (with epoxy and a hacksaw!) to fit the 10D. But it's not officially supported.
On the 18-55 the rear lens doesn't protrude far enough into the mirror box to hit the 10D's mirror, and by removing some of the plastic/rubber parts of the lens you can make it mount. I did this to the 18-55 that came with my 20D (I sold it with my old D30 as a kit).

Most (all?) of the other EF-S lenses are not modifiable in this way.
