More on Tripods

Hi all,

I have the opportunity to swap my Optex tripod for a Manfrotto 141RC.

Legs don't look too sturdy, but it comes with a quick release head.

Should I do the swap or continue saving for a better Manfrotto or Gitzo.

regards

Nige,

I assume you were using the Manfrotto 141RC head with the 190 leg. If that's the case and you find that the legs were not as steady for you compared to your Optex tripod than I would suggest that you wait and save up for a sturdier tripod such as the Manfrotto 055Pro or go all out and get a Gitzo.

When your are looking for a tripod you must take into consideration the weight of the camera equipement that you shall be mounting on the tripod as well as the weight and size of the tripod itself. If it's too big and heavy, you may not end up carrying around with you much. So even though the Manfrotto 190 leg may be small it may be more versitile the the 055 leg.

hope that helps
