Picture of the Week 20.02.06A little bit of a 'different' choice this week, but none the less a very deserving winner. No beating around the bush (or the water or jetty). I've chosen Patrick's IR image at Watson's Bay. Why I chose it?
1. We don't see many IR images, and this is a truely unique image that would look'great' without the IR, but excellent with the effect. 2. So many things to look at, the city skyline, the white puffy trees in the foreground at the top which help frame it, but most of all I think it's the 'people element' that makes this 'the' one for me. Try and imagine it without the people for a second? The image wouldn't be nearly so appealing. The title also helps too. 3. The jetty, the cloud formation and the boats all ask to be observed in this image and I think Patrick has done exceptionally well in his desire to do and learn more in the realms of IR photography. I could go on, but I think you get the gist Here's the image: And for those that missed the original thread simply go here. Put your hands together and give Rooboy a round of applause or a virtual pat on the back. Well done Patrick! Last edited by Geoff on Tue Feb 20, 2007 4:09 pm, edited 2 times in total.

Congratulations Patrick, nicely done!
I missed the original (my computer was broken for much of the weekend) but the original thread is here (the link in the posting at the top of this thread is directly to the JPEG, not to the thread).
Thanks Dave - the link is now fixed and not just to the jpeg

Good choice. IR fascinates me, wonder how IR racing photography would look?

I had missed this shot too, so very happy that Geoff has chosen it for PotW. Fantatsic shot and taken to another level by the IR. Love it, congratulations Patrick.

CongratulationsCongratulations, Patrick, on a superb picture. You are years ahead of some of us.
I too missed this shot, well done Patrick, the thumbnail image got me thinking it was Canada somewhere! Very nice treatment indeed.

Don't forget to take the IR filter off occasionally.. visible light is still a great format
