"Professional looking" camera

The drummer in our band was going to go to the Soundwave Festival this Sunday with my brother (who's the guitarist) and has now dropped out so now I've got a free ticket in.

In calling up Chugg, I've found out from the fairly useless girl there that I can't bring in a "professional looking camera"... which is silly and I asked what about a small lens... and she didn't have a clue.

Do I bring the D70 with a 45mm on it and hope I get in (or otherwise put it in the car) or just bring a 5700 and extra battery grip (because I will run out of batteries)?

It's times like this I wish I either had a Leica M8 or had the foresight to call up ahead and use my media pass... :oops:

What a ridiculously narrow statement. Your 5700 with a battery grip could be considered a "professional looking camera".

Personally I would probably stay clear of the d70 and take the p&s.

If you were to put numerous "cosmetic" scratches and dents on a DSLR, also obscuring the name/model/brand, splatter it with paint... basically make it look as decrepit as possible, could you just say "what, this old thing??" to anybody trying to stop you?

You can borrow our 220 back (as long as you don't break it) and get 30 shots a roll!

Never ceases to amaze me how narrow minded and ignorant some people are with respect to "professional" cameras vs P&S - I've taken some gorgeous shots with my S45, both at events and on holidays - it's not the camera that takes good photographs (preaching to the converted here, I know)...

I think I just found a reason one might want a silver bodied version of the D50 :)

Now that would be useful for such coupled with the 45 P!
