Canon M80Anyone know if these are for sale? I would like to get a PSD device with about 80 to 100GB of data. A pro used one on Monday and I was really impressed with the Epson P5000 he had but the Canon can use the same batteries as my 5D and apparently has a nicer screen along with fully supporting RAW
Thoughts? 5D | 16-35L | 35L | 85L | 135L | 70-200F2.8IS | 580EX

Good luck finding one. Are they officially on the Canon websites now as a product? I know they weren't when I was still looking at the switch to Canon late last year.
Doesnt appear so!
I'd imagine the Epson is cheaper. Theres also the jobo which is available and has EXIF and Histogram, but VERY expensive 5D | 16-35L | 35L | 85L | 135L | 70-200F2.8IS | 580EX

Vosonic X-Drives are excellent (IMO) they might not have the battery compatibility that the canon does, but the battery it comes with lasts a long time. The model I have is the 8360 I've seen the 8390 available as well.
Thanks Craig, that is the one I was trying to think of to mention as they support all RAW formats as well.
Only issue is you cant view the raw files - this is pretty important to me as I want to review the files on a screen at the end of the day, on a plane or train and delete as I go through them - having the histogram on there would help elimate poorly exposed pics too.
Seems theres only really a few options. Jobo, Epson,Canon EDIT: WOW you can view Raw?! 5D | 16-35L | 35L | 85L | 135L | 70-200F2.8IS | 580EX

Craig, when it supports raw does it display a thumb nail or the JPG attached to the RAW or the Raw itself? how fast does it render the images in RAW?
Does it have a histogram? 5D | 16-35L | 35L | 85L | 135L | 70-200F2.8IS | 580EX

I believe (but let me check) it displays the raw itself, time wise it feels fast and gives you a time in seconds (to open each image) I was getting between 0.08 and 0.25 seconds for D200 Compressed Raw.. on the disk, occasionally the disk will spin down and then the first few will be slower 0.55-1.1 seconds.
YOu can enable a histogram and exif, it gives Camera Body, Fstop, shutter, ISO, Image Dimensions, focal length, time and date. (so enough for most people) The histogram is like the d70.. ie it doesn't show the 3 colours.
Oooooh, I just noticed something the histogram changes as you zoom in.. wow, cooler then I thought. so you can see a histogram for a small portion of the image.
Craig, under a 1sec to render a 10mb RAW file? It must be displaying a JPG for the RAW
So you can see the histogram - thats neat Could you do me a MASSIVE favour? and take a photo of the screen with a image, histogram, exif?? Seems very impressive. EDIT: Dont worry can see the picture of histogram on the link Thanks Brett!! 5D | 16-35L | 35L | 85L | 135L | 70-200F2.8IS | 580EX

Now that I think about it, it must be the embedded jpeg. I'm weird and like to keep the protect covers on it until they fall off, or I buy a proper protector.. it bugs a lot of people.. but I put up with it.
Thanks Craig!! Looks great - I'd be weird too - I have screen protectors on everything, including my mobile phone and 5D LCD's
Question: you have the 8360 which is the model without OLED. I hear the OLED has a low life span? Given ill use this device for checking histogram/focus quite alot do you think life span is a issue?? I dont think the 8360 suffers from this? Cheers Kris 5D | 16-35L | 35L | 85L | 135L | 70-200F2.8IS | 580EX

Well I haven't seen the 8390 in the flesh, so all I can say is that I'm very happy with my unit, and as far as I know.. its now cheaper as it has been superseeded by the 8390. I've probably transfered 180GB of images onto the unit, plus watched countless tv shows and movies.. on average nearly 1.5 a day (on the way to work). I'm still happy with the purchase, and if I had the money I'd buy a second one. Do the research on the new model, but if it has lifespan issues, then I'd go the 8360 instead. (As far as I know most the specs are the same.. between models other then the LCD / OLED??)
Seems like a good choice to get the 8360 - how do you find checking focus on the Vosonic compared to your Cameras LCD? Image review is a big feature I need rather than just storage.

Well I don't really use it in such a method, I do view my shots, but as I don't delete any.. I'm not usually overly fussed, the zoome feature works well.. do you work in the City.. I'm happy to meet up with you and you can load your own images on it and see how it plays..
I ended up buying mine in Singapore as it was the only shop I'd found that would let me play, and bring my own stuff in download it, view it.. watch it etc..
I'm going into the city tonight, Town hall @ 5.30 to do some shooting else I can come in of a weekend or after work tomorrow?
If you're around, great! We are going to bangkok on our first stop, NBK may have them? 5D | 16-35L | 35L | 85L | 135L | 70-200F2.8IS | 580EX
