Formal portrait posesHi all,
I've been asked by relatives to do some formal portraits (because I have a "professional looking camera"). My candid shots have been ok to date, but I have no experience with the formal stuff. I have some good locations in mind, but can anyone suggest examples of what are good formal portrait poses (for both adults and children)? Thanks! Ben
There is no such way that you must follow this and that, which way you think it looks best on the couple or the people you are photographing will be the best way to go with.
I will say that you go around those image libraries, pbase, smugmug, zenfolio, flickr, etc... and look around at other's work, get some inspiration, and develop yourself.
google chuck gardner, or throgh dpreview. He has lots of tips on light, and comparison of a subjects facial symetry
Re: Formal portrait poses
Traditional classical portraiture is discussed here - http://jzportraits.home.att.net/ - at considerable length! Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
