Is a Mack Warranty worth it?

Postby Marvin on Thu Mar 01, 2007 11:47 am

Hi all,
Looking at getting my D200 this week. I was just wondering if it's worth paying $100 or so extra for a 3 year Mack warranty? I have done a search and nobody seems to have actually had to use one that I can find. What do people think??
Cheers,
Lee

It will be worth it 366 days after you buy your camera and it buggers up.

For the sake of $100, you get 3 years extra warranty.

$33 a year.

About 75c a week.

For a $2000 camera....

Good point. Not sure if it's 3 years total or 3 + 1. Will have to check it out. I guess my question was actually whether anyone had needed to use their warranty - ie does it cover anything that is actually likely to go wrong or would it be be useless because they would write a lot of it off as wear and tear (like they did on my car warranty!).

I am pretty certain it's additional warranty, that commences at the end of the manufacturers warranty.

So its 1+3.

For an imported DSLR body it replaces the standard warranty, as there is no local Aussie warranty when you buy a body here which was originally shipped to a reseller in Hong Kong for instance..

For an Australian body it should add to your local warranty - but I'm not really sure...
