Postby aussichef on Tue Mar 13, 2007 6:30 pm

i all
I havent been on for a week as my phone lines have been down
And as taken our great Telstra a week to fix my problem with alot of miss infomation along the way
but enough of that
i have a new HP pavillion desktop with intel Core 2Duo Processor 250 gig hard drive 1 gig of Ram expandable up to 4 gig running Windows Vista & a 19" flat screen monitor with 2000 to 1 contrast resolution
and a Canon pixmax MP 600 printer
Unfortunatly running vista means i cant run broadban satelite in port Vincent as they wont have the drivers for 3 months and also have to train their staff but i have been told adsl is installed in the town & available hopefully by the end of the month
mi will miss the minimeet @ the weekend but oh well will catch up soon

Warren, sounds like a great unit. I smiled about the drivers, Telstra must be the only people who didn't realise Vista was coming

As much as I like to Telstra bash, the problem here is actually Microsoft Vista. Seriously, do yourself a favour: format & install XP Pro. No, I am not kidding.

Hi Warren...

If you have a copy of Windows XP, you can dual boot your computer, but you will have to create a second partition on the hard drive first.

After you have created the partition, and for simplicity's sake we'll call it D Drive, reboot your computer with the XP cd, and install Windows XP onto your second partition (D drive). Then when you start your computer, you can select which operating system you want to boot up to Vista or XP.

This way with XP loaded, you can connect up to Broadband, and also run all those programs or drivers that don't work on Windows Vista yet....
