would like a different lensThinking about changing my 18-70mm that came with my D70 (on sale by the way) for the 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR, Somehow I can't hold the camera steady the way I would like. Anyone with comments or experience witht his lens? or suggestions on alternative?
I have both lenses and I actually find myself using the 18-70 more than the 24-120VR. I seem to find it slightly sharper when wide open. I have never used the VR on the lens as the focal length just doesn't require it for me. Nikon D7000
I had the 24-120 for about a year, and i loved it, I had no issue with sharpness at all.. Even after dropping it..lol Though I missed the lack of wide that the 18-70 has...
Might be worth concentrating on your technique rather than equipment here. Elbows tucked in, relaxed grip on camera, left hand under lens/body supporting it, steady breathing, and very importantly, squeeze the shutter rather than jabbing at it. Even if you decide to buy a new lens, good technique will always help So join in the chorus, and sing it one and all!

 Awesome advice

Same I even sold mine.. I would like to try the 18-200 as a walk around. And good advice for us all Rooboy.. Goodluck MATT
I think the 24-120 is a more versatile lens than the 18-70 (more length) for some and the VR improves captures when light is an issue, but it won't cancel out blur if your hand holding technique is bad.
