Apparently there will be a Greek Festivale going on Darling Harbour that day, we can go there and experience some Greek style food and wines. It should provide plenty of opportunities for photos with their dance and shows.

Hmmm, any rules against taking candids around voting stations, obviously in the booths would be invasion of privacy, but outside ?

Umm is anyone keen on catching the ferry over to Luna Park @ 7.50am :?:

I mean, if there are others I'll go earlier, but if not.... well, I'll just meet up at the normal time.

Peter, put me and Mrs Losfp down for "probably". Planning to probably drive to Wollstonecraft station, park, take a train down, and then driving back afterwards as we have to jet off around 12pm like you.

I will confirm tomorrow night.

A bit late notice, and a wild stab in the dark, but maybe worth a try..

does anyone have a CRT/LCD calibrator that is coming tomorrow, which they could lend me for the weekend ? I'm currently PPing on over 5 different displays, and I'm convince none of them are close to calibrated..
I'd be happy to lend a lens, flash, etc in return if anyone was interested..

like I said a late stab in the dark..

Craig: I'm going straight from work to Sydney, but as luck would have it, my colorvision spyder is at work so I'll bring it along tomorrow for you

And for the rest of you, here (I think) is the final list of starters (reminder it's an 8:15 start - finish by lunchtime)

Craig, I might have been in a position to offer a Spyder2, but mine from the OCAU went missing en route :( Trying to organise a replacement now though..

Is anyone keen to turn up early and take some early morning shots of the harbour/bridge etc? Weatherzone lists sunrise time as 7am ish

I'm semi interested, but it means getting up earlier, which is ok, but also carting around my tripod all day, which I'm less in favour for...hmm

I could bring my light POS tripod, instead of the benro, I could cope with carrying it for the rest of the day.. Des did you have anywhere in particular you wanted to meet ? What sort of shots did you want ?

Okay, Mrs Losfp has decided that she is going to sleep in, which means I am free to wander up at whatever ridiculous time I deem appropriate :)

I was thinking about just setting up some shots around the meeting place at Milsons Point - otherwise it becomes a hassle to GET to the meeting point in time for 8:15. Should get a nice angle of the bridge from there.

Maybe around 6:45ish? Planning to park around wollstonecraft station if I can, then catch a train across to milsons point. The alternative is to park near milsons point and catch a train back afterwards to drive out.. but I reckon I might have more luck scrounging parking at wollstonecraft.

What time does the ferry plan to leave the Quay, because it won't knowing the last time I did this for another 15 minutes...

So I'm going to have to leave Bondi at... 7am?

This is my plan, also. From memory when I used to jog around the area, parking should be easy, although it is just suburban streets.

Where is the ferry wharf? Is that the one right in front of the Luna Park entrance, or on the east side of the bridge?

I'm planning to catch the train to Milson's Point and walk down to the ferry.

Cheers

Heya Des, has anyone else replied to meeting earlier?

If not, then maybe next time? I think I will just meet at 8.15am at the wharf... but I am catching the ferry across :) @ 8am from Circular Quay.

We are to meet at the Milson's Point ferry Wharf outside Luna Park at 8:15. There's a ferry gets in just after 8 am

I expect we'll probably finish at Waverton rather than Wollstonecraft. While parking is readily available there I'm pretty sure you have to pay in some spots.

For those arriving early Kirribilli Markets are on tomorrow from 7 in Bradfield Park next to Milsons Point Station.

This may also make it difficult to park around Milsons Point

See you Tomorrow

A great day and great company - with a great cast:
Alpha_7, Steffen, Yi-P, Firsty, ATJ, Six, radar, Paul, nnnnsic, Trieu, Geoff, losfp, Sandy Feet, Spada, and of course - our organiser, Stubbsy.

It was great to catch up with everyone (some of whom I hadn't seen for quite some time) and also to meet some more of our members.

I had a very enjoyable morning - even took a few shots (and thanks Des for the short loan of the 70-200VR  Lovely lens).

Thanks for organising this Peter.

Cheers, Mick :) :) :)

Turned out alright in the end!

Image

Great to get out and about, and meet up with everyone again. It was good fun to catch up with most people, and meet a few new faces. This meet had everything, from a fun bit of exercise, grass kayakers and Firsty's D200's close encounter with the road!

On the downside, I wasn't a fan of the shooting conditions. Very bright and no cloud cover meant that I was really struggling, especially when urban/city shooting isn't my strong point to begin with.

Go here for more photos of the day, mostly participants being nerdy photo geeks :)

Thanks Peter for organising this, was a great day (a little longer for some then others) I got home just before 7:00, haven't download my pics yet, I had to soak in a bath for 20 minutes to relax the muscles and tend to some nasty blisters. Was a great time, plenty of people and things to take photos off.

Also thanks to Trieu, Yi-P, André and Leigh, we covered some extra miles with most of us visiting Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, Milson Point (again) and also Waston's Bay, for a quick trip to the gap and a great few of the cold front coming up from the south.

Looking forward to everyones photos.
