50 1.4 comparisonsHi Everyone. I've been getting some really odd effects with my 1.4 often photos come out looking like they've had a blur filter put through on a seperate layer. So I got my bro's 50mm lens and compared it to mine. The shot on the left is from my lens.
So there seems to be a problem here. How much does lens reconditioning cost? I can see a bit of dust in the lens floating deep inside.
The dust would rarely be an issue.
I presume that tehse were each taken using the same body? Did you try comparing what happens if you use manual focus with each of the lenses? g.

At f4.5 the depth of field may be sufficient to overcome focus issues. I would have a look at that. I would also print out one of those often maligned focus test sheets and see if it front or back focuses. I am a bit of a nerd and test all my lenses that way but they are all fine (more or less) including my 50mm 1.4.
