I went for a wonder around the local cemetry here is one pic I took




Its been cropped and auto levels in Photoshop.

I dont know if I like it or not.Kinder like it having no head

I like the contrast and sharpness although the background is a bit distracting.

subject matter dosent overly excite me but I like the detail in the image - its sharpe, good depth of field and 9/10 for the backlighting - well done

Nice sharpness but I agree the background is distracting although you've done well with the DOF to limit this.

We hang around cemetries coz you don’t have to get consent forms filled out

Nice pic - shame about the head and vandalism but it does make it interesting

I missed the mother sign being sharp, that was what I was after .

i like the 2nd image, better composition and tells a story.

with the 1st image, maybe if the statue was a silhuette with the sun setting behind, would make for a image with impact.

Love the second one.

It makes me think of Norman Bates from Psycho. The only thing i would change is that the frame looks like it is not totally leve.

I like the second one as it tells a bit more of a story. Have you thought about making the first one black and white, and maybe adding a bit of grainyness?

I also agree with ajo43 in that the frame is a bit wonky.

It's fun to play with depth of field. When I first got my 50mm1.8 I was shooting everything wide open as it was a luxury I didn't have before and I loved the boke.

In watching the same in other pictures (and going back through my own), I realize how easy it is to open way too wide and exaggerate the effect instead of making the effect more subtle. In any case, that's what I think about the second one. I really like it, but I think that blur should be done gentler as it distracts from the story as opposed to helping tell it...make sense?

I think that the B&W on the second is nice because it exaggerates the pleasant highlight around the edges of the statue. Good job in catching this unique subject. That's a good eye.
