My new toyPicked her up today...
Here is a quick and nasty shot i took a few mins ago
Yeah upgrade from the D50
Got it from Digital camera warehouse http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/prod4636.htm Paid a bit more than this sites price but I did order it a month ago, well before Gary got a price from Poon... Still I am very happy
Jeff,
In looking at that image, It's difficult to see the AI ring and tab around the mount. Have they removed that functionality, or is it simply not clearly rendered in your image? g.

The AI ring tab thing is still there, it sits at about 2 o'clock without a lens in it and at about 11o'clock with lens attached... Not sure if this is the same for the D200
My D50 has it located down at about 8 o'clock
the tab is there. Its black, tiny, just in line between the screw under the "nikon", right side. I see the S5 for $2500 from 2-3 AU suppliers, I thought HK price may have beaten them, as the HK prices are normally so good. Perhaps in time...
Exactly the same, only the labels differ to the D200 on the outside.
Thanx, and thank goodness.
Er, no, I don't think so. I know what you're referring to, but it's not the AI tab. Where you've described it as being (on the S5/D200) is exactly correct. The other tab is for metering, but it's not the AI lens coupling. g.

Congrats on the new toy. I am seriously considering one of these for myself. I'd be interested in your opinions of noise in high ISO (above 800) shots. Also, I heard a rumour that the S5 only does 3fps whereas the D200 does 5fps. Can you please confirm whether it does 3 or 5 fps? Is there any difference in the high speed frame rate depending on whether you shoot raw, jpeg or raw+jpeg? I suspect the buffer will fill at different rates but I'd be interested to know if you could get, say 5fps in jpeg but only 3 fps in raw.
Have fun with the new toy and post some high ISO and high dynamic range shots soon. Cheers John D3, D300, 14-24/2.8, 24-70/2.8, 85/1.4, 80-400VR, 18-200VR, 105/2.8 VR macro, Sigma 150/2.8 macro

This is true, and it can only do 3fps when the dynamic range is set to 100% ie the R pixels are disabled. Not sure if the raw, jpg or raw plus jpg effects the speed at all... The camera is not for shooting sports, it is for weddings, landscape and studio work etc...if you need 3+ FPS then this is not the camera for you...

Ok, well I did some test shots
These 2 shots were taken with the following settings 1/50 f/4 iso 1600 with the 28-70 2.8 @ 28mm in raw Both shots where underexposed and then adjusted by the same amount before being converted to jpg... I know this might not be the most accurate and introduces a few variables with the slight amount of post processing, but it does give you an idea of the performance of the 2 cameras S5pro D50
Good comparison Jeff.
