EOI - Sydney Portraiture Workshop.

Postby gstark on Fri Apr 20, 2007 8:36 am

Over the weekend I'm hoping that I'll be announcing the date for another portraiture workshop.

I'm talking with Christina this evening - she's the lady who owns the venue that we used for the last one in Balmain, and she's happy for us to use it again.

I just need to work out a date. I'm thinking a Saturday in mid June.

Gary,

I'm interested but mid-June is not good for me. 30/06 and onwards is fine.

Thanks,

André

Hi Gary,

I am interested in this as this is something I am trying to improve at. I am actually in the process of researching lighting equipment to setup a home studio.

I feel bad though as I have not posted much over the last year (just been lurking whenever I get time) so if there are limited spaces and more active members want in I am happy to sit out.

Cheers,

Andre,

I'm also thinking of another workshop in August .... during the AW.

Will that suit you better?

So, yes, that's TWO workshops. :)

AW is going to be August 3-5

The only cost for these will be the contribution towards the room hire. I'm expecting around $150 ... and if we run with 10 perps, that'll be ... let's see ... carry the 1, divide by 7 .... add back the number you first thought of ... :)

Paul, that would be great.

For everyone's information, at the last one of these, a few people brought along their lighting kits and we were able to use them during the workshop.

I would intend something similar to be the case here as well.

This thread is the original discussiion thread on the first of these. My recollection is that we asked for email EsOI for that; For these workshops I'll just be using a forum thread.

So it is adviseable to have lighting kits to make the most of the lesson I assume?

If so, fair enough... I don't have one.................................................................................................................................. yet :)

Mid June is not good for me due to end of financial year and impending fatherhood. August would be more suitable and I can bring my lights/brollies/stands, etc as needed.

Ok ...

we now have two dates for portraiture workshops.

Date 1: June 16

Date 2: August 4 (AW activities)

Let's see expressions of interest in either one, or the other, dates.

And just to ensure that we're all on the same page ... we're using the same room in Balmain that we used for the last portraiture workshop, and we need to contribute towards our use of that room, so there'll be a small charge for that use. Probably around the $15 mark.

Paul, I may buy myself a similar set of lights ... but I'll keep your offer in mind; many thanx.

Got room for a newbie like me? Keen to learn, and I'm sure with the talent on this forum, I'll pick up heaps on days like this.

Either day is fine with me. Prefer 16th June, but if there's too many people, I'm fine with August as well.

ok gary are we in need of models? i have two actor friends who may be interested (males) infact they just made a movie and are getting some clothing made up and asked me to take shots of them, i thought why not kill two birds, if we need some models and in return they get some of the shots.

whats everyone think? they wanted to use the shots to produce posters, if people dont want to do that thats cool i can just provide mine, attached is also a shot of the young lady who may be interested.

http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/7936/olgaon7.jpg

and the two guys, Nick has been on Home and Away (he is my best mates little brother) and Igor is a successful stunt man who just produced/starred in his own movie with nick.

And just to ensure that we're all on the same page ... we're using the same room in Balmain that we used for the last portraiture workshop, and we need to contribute towards our use of that room, so there'll be a small charge for that use. Probably around the $15 mark.

For those coming to the August workshop, there will also be a Ferry Hop on the same day, as a part of our AW activities, and they will be joining us for lunch/light refreshments in the early afternoon before they continue their trek.

Bill, Rod, Andre, Craig, David: all done.

Teo,

The June workshop has been fully subscribed for quite some time, so I've added you to the August workshop and waitlisted you for June. If a vacancy in the June workshop comes up, then you're in. Please confirm that August works for you in the mean time.

For those still considering these workshops, we restrict participants to just 10 to make it easier to work with the models and equipment, and by my maths, we have just two vacancies left for August.

Michael,

Please contact me offline regarding your friends. Their needs - and importantly, their interaction with the togs - will be different from what we are seeking in these specific workshops.

I'm happy to try to arrange a smaller, more targeted workshop for them, providing them with TFP, but focussed upon their needs and projections as well as how the togs can interact in that very different situation.
