Picture of the Week 24.04.07

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

Picture of the Week 24.04.07

Postby Geoff on Tue Apr 24, 2007 12:31 pm

Whoa.
What a task? I get back from a week away from the forum to find a miriad of absolutely stunning images.
After a very difficult wander through the images this one stood out.
By Spaz 'A Different Take'.

This is the original image:

I think this has real artistic flow and would love to see this enlarged and framed on a wall (or canvas). I can see many music lovers around the world desiring this image.

Congratulations Spaz!

Well done Spaz. Was listening to Beethoven's Piano Concertos 3 & 4 and thought of this pic. Nice and timeless.

Woah! Thanks guys, very much appreciated!

I just came on to check the new posts and saw the thumbnail on the side but couldn't work out why it was there.

It's the 3rd time I've tried this but only the first success, which I put down to the shallower DOF compared to previous attempts.

Thanks again :)

Geoff certainly had a mammoth task in selecting an image for this week's PotW. I think he made an excellent choice; this image just oozes music to me, and is just so good.

Spaz - an excellent shot for POTW - a good example of how photography isn't just about recording events - it's an artform as well.

Geoff - well chosen from a very strong bunch of images this week. I'd have had great difficulty making a decision.

congratulations spaz, untill i read your original post i thoght it must have been creative photoshopping...the fact that they are reflections makes it so much better. Great shot.

There was definitely Photoshopping involved in achieving the black and white feel that I wanted but not for the music. Everything could be replicated in a traditional darkroom so I don't consider any of it "cheating".
