Guess who's coming to dinner. Breakfast. And lunch.

Postby gstark on Wed Apr 25, 2007 9:12 pm

I'm booked to land in Melbourne on Friday morning next week, May 4, staying 2 nights in Lygon St. Where else would one choose to stay?

:)

I'm coming down for the Jazz Festival - I have media accreditation - and seeing that PMA is on at the same time .... that was the kick that got me over the line.

I need to look at scheduling, but I'm thinking of an attack on PMA on Saturday afternoon, and a breakfast minimeet in Carlton on Sunday, before I head back to Sydney.

For the breakfast meet, there's a place just off Lygon ... does all manner of things; looks to be in an old warehouse sort of building ... I think it would be ideal for us.

Can anyone remember the name of that place?

Does anyone have any other thoughts on these ideas of mine?

Hi Gary,

Sounds great. Not sure about PMA, but I should be available for a breakfast meet on Sunday, would be nice to catch up.

Welcome to Melbourne.

I can either do the PMA thing or breakfast on Sunday but sadly not both.

I might be inclined to do breakfast. If I go to the PMA I'll see a bunch of stuff that I can't afford.

Unless we met for lunch before on the Saturday.

Chris, the last time PMA was in Sydney, it wasn't all that impressive.

I got an... SD holding pouch (woot)... that sadly wouldn't fit my DS cartridges...

Gary, I am completely out of play on Sunday.

However, Saturday is another matter. I could probably do PMA for the early afternoon anyway. Maybe lunch first?

Lunch and PMA may work ...

There's a Gary Burton workshop in the early afternoon though ...

Then again, I don't play vibes. :)

I've not even had a close look at the MJF schedule as yet ...

Sorry Gary, I am not going to be able to catch up on Saturday either.

The reason Sunday is out is that we have a bunch of people coming over for lunch on Sunday. While in theory I could get out for a few hours on Saturday, the fact is that there will be a fair bit of stuff to do. I predict an unhappy GLW if I suggest it - with good reason.

Hope the Jazz festival goes well

cheers

Details ...

Saturday.

What time does PMA open to the public? Midday, isn't it?

There's a Frank Gambale masterclass @ JazzFest @ 15:30; That's at The Edge, in Federation Square.

Where's PMA? The Convention centre? What amn I looking at - a ten minute cab ride from PMA to Fed Square?

Sunday,

We should do breakfast at Thresherman's, just off Lygon. Probably 9-ish.

Any of this making any sense?

Scott,

It'll be great to catch up with you again.

Here's what I'm thinking right now.

Saturday: PMA around midday.

Sunday, breakkie at Thresherman's; 9-ish. It's Sundbloodyday, after all. :)

I'm staying at the Downtowner on Lygon, and 0400817042 will find me.

Just had lunch with Greg, and left a bag of goodies with him, for dissemination at a dinner meet or whatever you people feel appropriate.

I'm slightly internet challenged here - the hotel website says wireless internet. Doesn't tell you that you have to pay, and every other hotel in the chain that I've stayed at has free internet.

Oh well ...

Damn the hotel internet connections, they must be trying to tell you to go out and enjoy the sights!

Have logged onto a site for the PMA and got my free admission - it all counts :D - probably won't be able to make it until mid-afternoon (not allowed in until after 2pm anyway)

Looking forward to meeting you!

Cheers, Elena :D

Folks, just got on to leave Gary's message about times, but looks like he has had a breakthrough. Good stuff.

Yes, we had a most enjoyable lunch. I am only sorry I can't get to PMA tomorrow or breakfast on Sunday, but I hope you all have a good time.

2pm start?

Anyone for lunch beforehand?

Let's stick with around Midday as the meeting time, gives us time to lunch and chat and shoot before the comedy relief starts.
