SMH Online - How to convert your DSLR into a pinhole cameraThought this might be interesting to post here. Spoken and presented by Andrew Meares - chief photographer at the Sydney Morning Herald.

Interesting. Could be a subject for a future challenge.

Good to see that the Herald is catching up with us.
This was discussed herein Nov 2005, but referred to even earlier here. I believe that they're doing a story on phones that are not connected by wires to a wall socket in the next month or so. Perhaps this year's equivalent event was the trigger for this article? If so, we're ahead of them again. g.

I tried this before but I didn't have a spare body cap, so I just held the filt infront. Still worked, but I think it'll be easier with the body cap! And all the dust becomes apparent! like in his pics! hahah

Equipment: camera body, wide lens, standard lens, telephoto lens, flash Wish list: skill
I have been wanting to have a play with this for ages. I even bought another body cap to do so...then promptly forgot about it. Will have a play one day no doubt.
edit: looks like i should pull my finger out and have a go by the 29th: http://www.pinholeday.org/
I actually put a pin hole through my body cap (well, a bit of sheet metal glued to the body cap) on Sunday. I haven't tried it properly yet, and I need to modify it further to get sharper images, but, for massive depth of field and a bit of fun, it is great. And, yeah, it shows up ANY & ALL dust on your sensor in very sharp focus.

Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
So a pinhole can turn itself into a 'dust lens'
I just followed his instructions and it works really well! Granted I need 30s exposures at ISO 1600. Once I choose some better subject matter I'll post them.
