WTB: HUGE camera bag.I am looking for a camera bag to hold my gear about the same size or larger than the Lowepro Commercial AW bag.
http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Shoulde ... al_AW.aspx I need it to hold Two PRO-bodies (D2H and F5) and about 6 lenses with the biggest being a 70-200VR, 28-70 sizes, SB800 flash and all the bits and pieces that i have to go with them. I would also like some room for further additions. The LP Commercial above would not allow that. I already have a backpack for longer distance photography. I want this so i can pack it in my car and not have to worry about keeping too many bags. I have three bags now, i want to consolidate them into one bag. My travel tripod has it's own bag. I've searched the web, high and low but i couldn't find anything. Any ideas? I have a feeling i am not going to be in luck. Steve.

Tamrac 652 (M.A.S.) Rolling StrongBox
Thinktank "Airport Security" Pelican 1514 Watertight 1510 Hard Case with Black Dolly and Padded Dividers (Black) I have the Pelican - strongest & best protection but heavy, also the cheapest. Great for storing gear at home and onsite. It hold 3xcams plus 6 lens (70-200) and 2 flash. Vinnie

I can vouch for these two I have the pelican 1614 myself and it fits all my gear perfectly, and nigh on indestructible
What about these from LP?
http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Backpac ... ented.aspx http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Backpac ... AW_II.aspx I guess if you want to put them into your car's boot, you won't care about the easiness of changing lenses/stuffs right? I also found these might be considerable: http://www.kata-bags.com/Item.asp?pid=2 ... ProdLine=1 http://www.kata-bags.com/Item.asp?pid=3 ... ProdLine=4
My new car. http://www.stevekilburn.com/photos/143378516-M.jpg Thanks for your input everyone. You guys are certainly a wealth of knowledge. I've spent many hours searching the net for a suitable bag when all i had to do was ask here Anyway, so far the Pelican 1614 or maybe the 1654 are the go. Problem now is to find a retailer who sells it for a reasonable price. I see Maxwells is the distributor in Aust, which explains the 'double the price' i have found them for in Aust. Steve.

Steve,
that's what I have found as well . B&H sell Pelican for reasonable prices and even counting shipping, still lots cheaper then the Aus. prices. Let us know where you end up buying it, I'm still planning on getting one. I am too thinking about getting a 'Pelican Case - 1520 with padded dividers' for moving around the country. I am sure domestic Airlines will prevent backpacks as carry on luggage sooner rather than later. One major problem when someone sees a Pelican Case = $$$$. It was suggested to me by a Camera Store to find a soft bag ie Cricketers gear bag or even a suitcase to conceal the Pelican Case in.
Please Note: also take into account the internal height of the Pelican Case or equivalent to give good clearance on the camera body in the upright position. fozzie
Hi Fozzie, we buy our Pelican cases (and lots of them!) from SeaOptics - they seem to have some specials on atm http://www.seaoptic.com/specials/specials.html
I notice they now have TSA approved padlocks which will fit the cases too. They are local - I got some Suba lights and Pelican u/w torches from them a while (some years) ago as well. Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
digitor - thank you for the heads up. I will investigate on my next 'RDO' in May.

I have the Pelican 1600 which I use for my underwater gear (housing, strobes, lens ports). It is tough as and I even send it through as checked luggage.
I got mine through a mate that works at an electrical wholesaler (TLE at the time) and it was nearly $100 cheaper than SeaOptics. You might want to give your local store (there's one in Nowra) a go. They won't have them in stock but can get it in for you.
I have also found an equivalent Australian made "Pelican" case. It is made by Kincrome. They don't have the range that Pelican has, but for something like the Pelican 1520, their equivalent Extra Large Safe Case retails for $178 inc GST. It is jus a bit bigger then the Pelican 1520. This was from a Tools retailer here in Newcastle. More info at:
http://www.kincrome.com.au/web/catalogu ... mber=51019 They don't have the nice dividers like the Pelican but just as pure storage, ie dust free and with silicone packs for moisture, it is a good alternative. Note, they only come in bright yellow! Note they also come in smaller sizes. Thee one size down is $130. I'll try to have a look at them next week. Talk to Padey. I think his is a Lowepro Classic, not sure which model but it's HUGE and, despite it's size, pretty easy to maneouvre around. He easily packs 2 pro bodies and numerous lenses plus accessories in there.
Nikon D70, Nikon D200, Nikon F100, Nikon 18-70mm, Nikon 50mm, Nikon 17-55mm, Nikon 85mm, Nikon 24mm, Nikon 60mm, Nikon 105mm, Tamron 70-300, SB800, SB28, LSPJ
I have a Lowepro Pro roller 3.
I fit two MF body and MFDBs and a stack of Mamiya glass. Plus a couple 35mm DSLRs and a stack of 35mm glass. These bags are tough, I've taken it on beaches, on rocky shores and the odd church here and there. Andrew
Canon make photocopiers and stick lenses on them....
I saw a Pelican 1500 in G&V closing down sale for about $360 incl GST today, only one left...
Anyone who needs it should go and pick it up...
