As y'all know, I'm coming down this weekend for the Jazz Festival.

Here's somethingthat landed in my inbox, and looks like it will present some photo ops for y'all.

Mick, my expectation would be never. Sydney hasn't had a good jazz culture for quite a while now as we're more of a city of music-fads... hence why there's so much top 40 pop, electronic, r&b, and rock in this place.

Melbourne is a better music city in Australia and jazz tends to thrive better there... as does most music, from what I know.

Actually, Last year's Manly Jazz Festival was actually quite good, for Manly.

They actually had a couple fo good lineups there. First time in several years.

If you want to see a good jazz festival lineup, the 2007 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival started last Friday, ran through the weekend, and continues this Friday through the whole of next weekend.

The lineup there makes me cry ... so many legends there, so much good music, so much great food ... and I'm not there to enjoy it!

Micvk, a few of the artists from MJF are actually passing through and performing in SYD; check the local guides.

G'day

How long ago did Soup Plus close?

When I lived in Pitt St quite a few years back I could usually find decent Jazz within a short walk. My "territory" included The Basement, Soup Plus, Strawberry Hills, Oxford St, Paddington RSL and various city clubs and pubs.

I even went to the suburbs once, but they were too far to walk home from.
Cheers
