...found some lenses...i was hassling my dad to borrow his film slr (f-601) so i could shoot some b&w film... went around to his place today, and to my surprise, he had
28mm f2.8 50mm f1.8 75-300 f4-5.6 (i know its a crappy push pull) and a metz 45 cl-4 (massive gn of 148!) just wondering if anyone knows of any reviews on the 28mm f2.8 or 50mm f1.8. they are both non-d lenses and i believe they are fairly old, dad isnt sure when he got the camera, but i believe it was about 1995 (give or take a few years). cheers
yeah, ive tried out the lenses on my d70 and they seem to meter and autofocus fine.
i guess what i was wanting to know what sort of quality they are. obvoiusly i will find out about image quality after using the lenses for an extended period of time... i guess im just asking what sort of image quality i should expect with them...
You can go to these places if you like and read these.
http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/5018af.htm or here http://www.naturfotograf.com/index2.html (Scroll down) I have both the 50mms AF - D and the non D - The non D made in Japan and the D in China. Both are very sharp. Both Plastic. These 50mm 1.8 lenses are relatively easy to make and that is why they are cheap to buy even new. If you want to read some technical info go here http://www.photosynthesis.co.nz/nikon/specs.html or here http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/nikortek.htm
The Metz is an awesome flash, although bear in mind I think the GN you quoted is in feet. It has two flash heads - the main that can be angled, bounced, etc and a fill flash for, well, fill flash.
P Regards, Patrick
Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug

One other thing - it chews through batteries - get the rechargables if you can. P Regards, Patrick
