New Lens

Postby ozimax on Mon May 14, 2007 9:39 pm

I have just taken delivery, thanks to Gary and Poon, of a brand spanking new 70-200mm F2.8 IS lens. It is a cracker. I was straight out taking photos in the near darkness, handheld, and within a few hours I am working on a paid marketing job. It's amazing how easy things become when you have the right tools for the job.

I'll post some photos when I get the time, but first impressions are as follows:

Lens is built like a tank (goes without saying)
It is heavy but balances well with the 30D
Tripod is consigned to storage (well, mostly)
Decent handheld shots at 1/10 or 1/15 sec will be possible
Nicely packaged with custom case, petal hood and 77mm clear filter included.

The lens has taken about 5 working days to arrive from HK, delivered to my door in regional NSW. Sensational service from Poon.

I'm looking forward to the next couple of days trying to learn how to use this beast!

Ozi.

Bernie it is a disease, the "L" disease. I've got away with this one but I'm not going to push my luck for a while... :D

Hopefully before the NZ tip in November I may get a wide angle lens but I need to save extensively from now on!

Cheers.

The 16-35 is very nice :) I'm wondering whether that pair will do everything I really need for holiday trips... I hope so. Although I do like my 50/1.4 for low light and pano work. And it's nice and light... it really is a disease.

All I really NEED now is 85 F1.2 and of course the great 135 F2 and that would be enough...until the next list is made. :D
