and this site one even talks about the D3X beating the Canon 1Ds MarkIII with 22 megapixels fullframe and 7fps to the stores.

I love this:

Its an old pic and story however I am certain we will get there (when is the only question).

I had a meeting with a representative from Nikon at PMA in Melbourne three weeks ago and his suggestion was that Nikon was still developing full frame lenses for a reason, and its not because they feel an obligation to support the people who are still buying new Nikon F6 cameras. His comment was that Nikon were not going to release a product unless they were 100% confident in its capabilities and to hang in there, Nikon owners would be rewarded....

It might sound like a party line but given the fact that Sony is also looking to have their own full frame pro DSLR on the market in the next year, and that Sony also manufacture chips for Nikon, my hunch is that sometime in the forseeable future we will get rewarded for our patience. My pic is that early next year Nikon will release a FF pro body and about 8 - 12 months after we will see a FF prosumer camera as a replacement to the D200.

Fingers crossed!

i hardly think nikon is the type of company who would continue doing something out of an obligation to do so...

(time and time again we hear stories eminating from nikon that certain technologies or products are just too expensive to justify, or there is no market.)

yep it definitely sounds like party line!!!

but i think there is probably some truth to it. dunno. i would think that nikon have a lot riding on this camera, and a lot to prove...

That camera is too weird looking, it's hand grips seem to have been tested by ogres. :?

And hmmm I thought Nikon would be using their own sensors... but oh well. :?

Italdesign are responsible for the D70's red triangle and all of the other models having them. I don't thing they'd let Nikon make this monstrosity.

If Nikon ever released a camera that looked like that, I'd sell all my gear and quit photography.

(Or go to Canon.)

(Actually on second thoughts, i'd keep my gear but never buy another Nikon camera.)
