An Addition To My R1800 Printer

Postby mic on Mon Jun 25, 2007 11:01 pm

As I don't want to waste ink and use my Photo Quality Printer Epson R1800
on general printing

What is a cheaper good Printer ( Colour ) that I could get as well ?

Cheers,

Mic

Mic, I may be in the minority here, but if u have the R1800, use it. It's not THAT costly to run I don't think. Why get ANOTHER printer that will undoubtedly take up more space/desk realesate when you have a gem of one now? Just my opinion :)

I tend to agree with Geoff, cheap printers are often more expensive to run then dear ones.

I have thought about using my R1800 but didn't know if normal paper would harm it's working in any way, I just thought it would be more expensive

Good to see some info on this.

Thanks.

Normal (reflex) paper is fine in my R1800 mate. It's made to work for you, and you shelled out a lot for it, I say use it and enjoy it.

Thanks Geoff,

I always ask a silly question here and it always seems to save me $$$$ :D

I think I will keep asking them.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Mic.

Mic

Use it and when it dies buy another R1800. You'll still be better off. I put paper all the way down to Ilford Smooth Pearl multi use in mine and have never had problems. BUT for general printing (letters etc) I have an HP 5MP Laserjet I bought 10 years ago and it's still going strong.

I'm in the Stubbsy camp too. I have an HP 1320 LaserJet, mono, that I use for general printing - they do such a wonderful job on text. You can often buy reconditioned laser printers or superseded models at online auctions for very little outlay.

Anything requiring colour gets done on my R800. I wish I hadn't bought it when they first came out, because I would rather have the R1800.

My Epson LQ100

http://img.kelkoo.com/CS/large/949/183/ ... 183949.jpg

recently died but after over 15 years of service and only TWO ribbon replacements, is far better value than any bubblejet printer ever made :)

Now i use my R1800. Actually i have three printers, but only space for one at a time. :(
