macro lenses

What macro lens do you have and would recommend for an 350D, and do you have any examples of shots you have taken with it to show me, cause im not sure what to get, any advice would be much appreciated

for the money you cannot beat a 90mm Tamron....... or a Sigma 150mm

have a look in the bargains

The Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro is fantastic.

I use it on a 350D and it's probably my favorite lens.

Ive a different choice - I got the EF-s 60mm f2.8 macro and It is very sharp.
It does Autofocus hunt from time to time... but it has gorgeous colour and if you dont mind getting up close (closer working distance than the longer focal lengths on the 1.6x crop) It is a great lense!

Can't go past an MP-E 65. It is the best macro available for ANY camera and it works on a 350D

5:1 macro - try finding that on another lens! Craps all over the 1:1 you get on most others...

Then again, it is $1000 and hugely impractical

I'd love an MPE-65, but then I'd have to pay for it :shock:

At least with the 100mm 2.8 you can use it as a portrait lens :D

I have both the Tamron 90mm and the MP-E 65. Two different classes of lens.

My 90 mm gets more use as it is very versatile given it can focus to infinity. The MP-E is pretty awesome but only has a working distance of 10cm at 1x down to 4.1 cm at 5x :)

Here are a couple from the MP-E, 1x or maybe 2x, but not more than that. 5x is very hard to shoot unless you have tons of light.....

You can see my nephew cheats and wears colored contacts! :)

I've ordered the Tamron 90mm

With our dollar strong and found a nice price online I jumped

Wanted the Canon 100mm but with a difference of about $200.00 I couldn't justify the impulse buy :P

Where can I buy one of these (MPE-65) lenses from? And is it available in Nikon mount?

mp-e 65mm is a canon lens. a similar effect can be obtained using extension tubes or even a reversal ring used with a 50mm f1.8 mounted to the end of a macro lens.

want magnification ? this guy is one of the best insect macro photographers i have come across with some serious magnification. 150mm sigma + 50mm reversed + 58mm of kenko extension tubes.
