What is the most popular DLSR lens

The sample size is a bit of a worry but this is an interesting article nevertheless

Thanks for the link.

Looks like I could afford maybe 3 out of that top 10 list :)

Interesting that they have the 17-55 f2.8 DX on there and not the 17-35 f2.8...

Well that would discount that list as being anything other than ridiculous....Coming from someone who has had both!

And I would be right in saying you preferred the 17-35? But loved the extra reach on the 17-55 ?

Perhaps you had a dud dan?? I have the 17-55 and love it. I have also used the 17-35 and agree that it is a great lens.

For me the reach of the 17-55 gives it an edge and perhaps I just got one of the good ones.

Thanks for that link. Very useful for me as I'm looking to purchase a Nikon D80 at present so any suggestions/hints regarding lenses appreciated.

Um, neither is actually on the list, there's the 18-55 DX kit lens from the D40 et al., but not the 17-55 DX. In any case 'most popular' does not mean 'best'; so it's unsurprising that the 18-55 DX kit lens comes in 4th and the 18-70 DX kit lens comes in 6th.

<Devil's Advocate>More ridiculous than drawing conclusions from a sample size of one?</Devil's Advocate> :P

just a word of caution as this survey is from normal users and doesn't equate to quality of lens. u'll find that the kit lens is popular, since that's what u get with the camera !

Just to add to the argument that this is a survey of blog readers stating what lens is most popular. It should be considered for interest purposes only. And, yeah, it is reasonably interesting.
